What is this sleek, strange toy? Some may call it an oral sex simulator, but I want to call it a flicky licky. So I will.

The Elegance Dreamy Clitoral Stimulator by Shots is one of the newest flicky lickies to hit shelves. Like the Casanova by CalExotics, the Dreamy has a small tab of silicone that rapidly flutters against the user’s anatomy. You can liken it to a tongue (hence “oral sex simulator”) but it’s a little… bitey.

But in a really good way.

The Elegance Dreamy is a cute, compact, and fairly efficient design. It’s about 5.5 inches tall, with a sleek but chubby handle that fits comfortably in my clumsy grip. It has just one button to turn it on/off and control the settings.

This toy is waterproof, USB rechargeable, and made of body-safe materials. These are basic things you might assume every modern sex toy would be, but sadly you’d be wrong!

In an ocean of pink, the Dreamy stands out with its rose gold plastic and matte black silicone. It reminds me of many of Satisfyer’s air pulsation toys.

The Dreamy is not a vibrator, nor an air pulsation toy. It’s a friction-based sex toy; it literally “flicks the bean.” The user nestles the Dreamy’s short nozzle over their clitoris, nipple, penis, etc, and is rapidly pitter-pattered by a tiny silicone “tongue.” The tongue is about the size of a fingertip but is as flat as a coin.

This kind of stimulation can take some getting used to, and the Dreamy in particular can be trickier than its flicky licky peers. But it feels really good (more on that in the next section.)

The Dreamy charges with a magnetic cord. It fits oddly, but it’s a strong magnet, so you don’t have to worry about it getting jostled loose. You can plug it into any USB outlet or adapter. If your sexy sessions run long, I recommend topping off the charge between uses – the Dreamy loses some of its muscle when the charge runs low.

what does this “oral sex simulator” toy feel like?

Flicky licky toys aren’t for everyone. If you have a very sensitive clitoris, rapid-“licking” models like the CalExotics French Kisses or Shots Dreamy will probably be too intense and abrasive for you. (There are gentler styles of oral sex simulators, like the Lora Dicarlo Filare and Sir Richards Rim Joy, if you’re still keen on lick-like friction/movement.) I think the Dreamy is ideal for folks who enjoy a lot of finger (or toy) movement directly on or around their clitoris, or they like the pleasant jolt of tapping on their clit when they’re turned on.

These toys work best when you’re already turned on. I find them too abrasive for warming up (unless I’m feeling masochistic-y.) But when you’re aroused, your clitoris firms up with blood just like a penis, which generally makes it more sensitive but less tender. This makes physical contact less jarring, so the Dreamy by Shots is way more pleasurable.

A dollop of lube goes a long way too.

The Dreamy Clitoral Stimulator’s tab is shorter, minutely thicker, and firmer than the very similar French Kiss Charmer. This actually makes a big difference in how it feels. The CalExotics French Kiss toys are whip-like: each flap feels like a tiny strike, and if you hold it too close the tongue just folds over. The Dreamy’s movements are closer and heavier, so it feels… more thuddy, I guess?

As odd as this probably sounds, the Dreamy Clitoral Stimulator’s sensations actually feel a lot like an air pulsation toy (eg Womanizer or Satisfyer.) The rapid flicking is functionally similar to air pulsation, which stimulates the clitoris with continuous fluttering. So it makes sense, even if it sounds weird on paper. It also makes me confident that if you love Satisfyers but you wish they were more physical, the Elegance Dreamy’s a potential match.

my experience with the dreamy

My clit is hidden by my outer labia; to reach it, I have to hold myself open. The Dreamy’s stout nozzle is made of firm but flexible silicone that keeps my labia spread so the toy’s tongue tab can do its job. It’s a little awkward, but the sides are smooth, so it’s not stabbing or chafing my labia.

I like to use the Dreamy while sitting up. (It’s great for a masturbation break at my desk.) Sitting up naturally parts my labia a little, and makes it easier to angle the Dreamy against the right side of my clit, which is more sensitive.

Although the French Kiss toys have to be held at a close hover to give them room to flap, the Dreamy’s nozzle and smaller tongue have to be positioned flush against my body in order to reach my clit. (If your clit is pretty recessed or heavily hooded, the Dreamy’s design might offer you less than other users.) This makes the Dreamy Clitoral Stimulator feel almost rumbly in comparison.

The Dreamy Oral Simulator’s button is easy to find by touch. I also find it’s well-placed for how I hold the handle.

The Dreamy’s packaging and marketing says it has 10 settings, but I only count 6? They’re all consistent speeds, which is ideal for me because I don’t like patterns. What’s great about the Dreamy is that after you reach its highest speed (6), clicking again brings you back down to speed 5, then 4, etc. It feels more natural than dropping back to 1.

The first setting is like a rumbling flutter. I don’t feel much of a difference in speed 2, but 3 adds some muscle and bite. By setting 6, the Elegance Dreamy is really humming – both physically and audibly. This isn’t a silent toy. The sound is muffled when you hold it in place, but if you move it around it sounds like a crooning toy motorcycle.

After play, the Dreamy can be cleaned easily with toy cleaner (or soap that’s safe to use on your face) and water. There’s a seam at the base of the nozzle that can hide gunk. To clean it, part the silicone by pressing against the side with your thumb. Then sluice some soap and water over it. Rinse thoroughly!

final thoughts

I really like the Shots Dreamy. Its fluttering “tongue” provides a powerfully direct whirr of sensation. While that sensation is nothing like oral sex (unless your partner is Barry Allen), it is deliciously targeted friction.

The toy itself is thoughtfully designed, sturdily constructed, and has a better handhold than most of the flicky licky toys I’ve tried.

If you like a lot of direct touch on your clitoris (or nipples, or penis) or you’re a fan of Satisfyer and want something with a little more bite, I think you’ll probably be daydreaming about the Dreamy. If you clamp your thighs shut in reproach at firm licking, light tapping, or too much rubbing from pinpoint vibes, the Dreamy would be a nightmare for you.
