Review: Basilisk Dual Density Silicone Dildo by Pris Toys

A thick, short dildo posed against a glittering background. It's surrounded by neon colored fake plants and yellow puff balls.

The girthy Basilisk Dual Density Silicone Dildo from Pris Toys is big and squishy.

I try to review a variety of dildos on this blog. There’s such a diversity of sizes, shapes, and material firmness, why limit myself? But big and squishy are what get the most off-the-clock use in this house. The SquarePeg Mel, Uberrime Maximus, and Neo Elite 9 Inch Dual Density are all staples in my sex life.

But I didn’t just ask for the Basilisk because of its size. I asked because the shape is so wonderfully weird.

the pris toys basilisk design

Pris Toys is a new indie studio that specializes in bright colors and abstract designs. SheVibe carries several of their models, including wand toppers, grinders, and the carrot-like Ixora Dildo. They’re all gorgeously weird, which is exactly my speed.

The Dual Density Basilisk 6″ Dildo is 2.4 inches in diameter at its widest. That’s an entire inch wider than the average penis or dildo! This toy is definitely intended for experienced users and girth enthusiasts.

Because it was made to be wide but not long, the Basilisk has modest 6 inch length. This allows most folks to enjoy a filling fuck without cervix bumping or depth play.

The shape of the Pris Basilisk is so genuinely unique. The head is semi-realistic, but the rest of the dildo is smoothly textured with random ridges and bumps. Towards the base, the shaft swells out in a lumpy knot. Limophilia enthusiasts (folks with a thing for cartoon goo girls) will especially appreciate the asymmetrical, abstract shaping, which almost looks like it’s melting.

The Basilisk is dual density, which means its firm inner core (for stability) is surrounded by a squishy outer layer. (EDIT: You can now get the Pris Basilisk in single density form!) Because of the Basilisk’s girth, you can really feel the contrast between the “dick bone” (my nickname for the core) and the flubbery top layer. I love to squeeze this thing.

The core in most dual density toys stops in the shaft so the head is single density and extra squishy, but the Basilisk Dildo’s core runs through the entire toy. I initially puzzled over this. A soft head means a less jarring thrust, especially if you’re near a sensitive cervix. But I’ve found that I actually like the lengthier core. I can be very intentional about how I angle the toy because the head doesn’t yield under pressure. That means I can targetedly massage Buster’s g-spot or their back wall.

The Basilisk 6″ Inch Dildo’s wide base makes it harness compatible and anal safe.

In indie studios – like my home away from home, Uberrime – dildos are made by hand. Pigment is mixed into liquid silicone, which is then poured into a toy mold so it can set. When makers choose to pour and swirl multiple colors, the results will always vary, because liquid silicone does what it wants. Each toy winds up with one of a kind colorations. My Basilisk is a messy splash of hot pink, pearly white, gold, and a hint of blue.

This toy is so densely packed with glitter that it glistens and twinkles at every angle. The base is clear, so you can really see the explosion of sparkle particles. It’s beautiful!

our experience using the basilisk

When you look at the Basilisk Dual Density Dildo, you’re probably expecting two things: girth, and texture. It’s got plenty of girth… but the texture isn’t as pronounced as you would expect.

When I tell you the Basilisk’s outer layer is squishy, I mean it. It’s as plush as the Neo Elites or the Vixskin Mustang (a fan and blogger favorite), but it’s fatter so it has more give when you squeeze.

Like most super soft-surfaced silicone, the Basilisk is tacky to the touch. Unlike jelly material dildos which have oily residue (and are porous and often toxic), body-safe silicone doesn’t get greasy or weird. It’s tacky, not sticky or damp! With water-based lube, the Basilisk feels downright sleek and silky in use.

The Basilisk’s outer layer offers great padding if you’re clenching or rough fucking. Like the slimmer Tantus They/Them, the Basilisk’s fat, average-length shaft is great for vaginal penetration because it’s filling – or in Basilisk’s case, really filling – but won’t fuck too deep for most users. (I say “most” because vaginal depth varies.)

But because the Basilisk is so squishy, all the wonderfully weird texturing loses its impact. My partner Buster can barely parse out the swells when the toy is still (and the first few ridges are lost entirely.) The texturing is more obvious when the toy is being thrust or corkscrewed, but even then the experience is just very mild. All stretch, no added sensation.

“Mild” works great for us. The pillowy-yet-unbending Basilisk 6″ Dildo pairs well with my hard thrusting. But if you want the Basilisk to stroke and massage your insides with tantalizing ridges and dips? You’ll need to look at its firmer iteration: the Pris Toys Basilisk Single Density Cosmic Dildo.

extra stimulation: g-spotting and knotting

So that’s a no on rippling texture stim… what about the rest?

If concentrated g-spot stimulation is something you seek in insertables, the Basilisk design doesn’t have much to offer. But because this dildo has such a firm core, it’s pretty easy to deeply angle it for shallow, targeted thrusting. DIY g-spotting!

A close up of the Basilisk's lopsided knot.

While the texturing is passive, the asymmetrical knot at the base is unmissable in use. Knots are commonplace in monster dildo designs, but I’ve never seen one on an abstract toy like the Basilisk. Knots provide a final challenging stretch at the end of a toy that many folks find incredibly erotic – including Buster.

The Basilisk’s knot is squishy and only on one side of the shaft (rather than a consistent bulge all the way around), so it’s easy for Buster to accommodate with a lot of lube and adequate warm-up. After they’ve had time to adjust to the girth, I can even thrust it! The knot adds an extra hole-stretching pop to every thrust.

If you’re already comfortable with girthy toys in the over 2.25-inch range and want try knotting dildos, the Basilisk is a surprisingly gentle first step.

using basilisk for strap-on sex

The Basilisk Dual Density Dildo isn’t a feasible choice for strap-on sex for my partner and I. We’re fat, so we need our dildos on the long side to compensate for the greater distance between our bodies. (I have my eye on both the Talon and Comet for that.) That being said, I still have some thoughts.

The base is as rigid as the core. If you’re using the Basilisk in a harness and you enjoy rough thrusts, you might want some cushioning to keep it from bruising your pubic mound. The BumpHer and Shagger from Banana Pants are a snug but effective fit.

The knot poses some logistical complications to harness use. In order to strap this toy, you’ll probably need a large stretchy silicone o-ring. I’m not sure I’d personally use a metal o-ring for the Basilisk because of its bulgey shape and soft surface. Even using the plastic bag trick, I’ve scuffed some soft dual density toys with metal rings.

final thoughts on the pris basilisk

The texturing on the Pris Dual Density Basilisk 6″ Dildo is more aesthetic than functional. (To enjoy the texture, you might want to grab the Pris Toys Single Density Basilisk instead.) But with an abundantly plush outer layer, a bulging half-knot at the base, and an ultra-rigid dick bone keeping the whole thing on track, the very girthy Dual Density Basilisk has plenty more to offer. Its wonderfully weird design and partner-pleasing dimensions make it a unique and likely permanent addition to my regular rotation.

If you’re looking for something more stimulating than just girth, the Basilisk probably isn’t for you. Which is a little bit of a shame, because Pris Toys’ abstract texture/shaping is genuinely intriguing. Maybe we’ll see the Basilisk in a single, firmer density to really utilize its weird design. (EDIT: And as I have edited to mention several times, now there is one!)
