Review: Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo With Suction Cup (Actual Size) by SquarePegToys

I’ve been reviewing sex toys for a little under two years now. In that time, my preferences have shifted. I’ve become more open-minded. What was once unfathomable to me is now just water under the bridge! Pussy pumps, vibrators shaped like tongues, realistic style dildos…

Today’s review is of the latter.

A bronze dildo sitting on a brick fireplace. A person's finger is posed on the toy's head to hold it up. Its shaft is detailed with unique dappling and divots.

Usually “realistic dildo” just means a toy that’s been artistically designed to look like a penis. They typically have a defined head, some vein detailing, and sometimes foreskin or balls. Most of them are done in skin tones.

The Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo isn’t just a lookalike: it was molded from an actual person’s dick. Their massive dick.

Peepshow Toys currently carries a variety of hefty lifecast cocks from SquarePegToys: Mel, the lengthy Leo., They’re both made of Square Peg’s ultra-squishy, SuperSoft silicone, which makes their imposing size easier to accommodate. Their suction cup bases are flared out enough to be strap-on harness compatible and safe for anal.

Mel standing upright, its underside facing outward. Its surface is craggly with texture.

I’m not kidding when I say Mel is massive. It’s about 9 inches tall, and has – at the widest portion of its tilted shaft – a diameter of 2.23 inches. That’s 3 to 4 inches longer and almost an inch thicker than the average penis. This is not a dildo for inexperienced receivers. For most folks, this is a toy you work up to.

I asked to review Mel because of its pronounced curve to the left. Lots of real penises have slants, but you don’t really see that replicated by realistic toys. Dildos with curves usually angle upwards for better g/p-spot stimulation; there’s no functional purpose for a sideways tilt. So while I understand the lack of leanin’ peens, the novelty of Mel seduced me.

SquarePegToys’ Mel has a very cute head, with an unsymmetrical corona and a deep urethral divot. The corded vein running along the underside of the shaft is as thick and bulging as a muscle, creating an additional ridge of stimulation.

Although the molding process perfectly replicated Mel’s tilt, other details of the shaft had to be altered to make a more serviceable toy. There are smooth patches at the base and behind the glans, and some of the intensely ropey vein texturing was sanded down so it wasn’t so jarring. The resulting surface… isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, at least on top. (The underside is actually quite nice.) The appearance of Leo’s skin and vein texturing definitely translated into silicone better than Mel’s.

Mel’s base is really neat (albeit a little roughly trimmed.) To create a strong suction cup, a second concave circle was added to the bottom. If you give the Mel SuperSoft Dildo a firm push against a flat surface, it’ll grip tight for a long time. And the suction holds up against a lot of tilting and tugging. In fact, it does a better job than most of our other suction cup toys.

Because the Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo is so, you know, super soft, it’s not as much of a pain in the ass to clean as I expected. When washing with a toy cleaner or face-safe soap like dish liquid, press down with your fingertips (not nails) as you go. The veins and other texturing will yield to your touch and you’ll be able to lather and rinse the indents.

our experience with the squarepegtoys mel dildo

While my toy interests have changed with time, my partner Buster’s have perhaps narrowed. Dozens of dildos into our explorations, Buster’s asks are twofold: big, and squishy. Mel is both.

With Mel’s size and girth, Buster either needs to warm up with a smaller toy first (hey there Neo Elite) or be really turned on (hi Magic Wand.) Mel’s head doesn’t have much taper from the shaft (like the Aqua King does), so you’re essentially taking its full thickness from the start. I had assumed Mel would be difficult to insert because of its tilt, but because it’s so pillowy soft, it yields to Buster’s body and slides without much struggle. Mel definitely needs a lot of lube, though. Water-based lube and coconut oil are both great options.

Although Mel’s shaft is dappled with texture, Buster doesn’t notice much of it in use. The head’s rim stands out a little while being thrusted, but all of Mel’s veins and skin mottling? They disappear in use, compressed into oblivion because of how soft and fat Mel is. While that might disappoint texture lovers, it does make Mel a deliciously slick fuck. Despite its size, I could really pound the Mel, twisting it slightly with every rapid thrust to take advantage of its prominent veined underside.

Mel is incredibly filling. Though cushy, its sheer size makes Buster feel stretched deep and wide, the shaft wedges against their pubic bone. It doesn’t directly stimulate Buster’s g-spot but instead presses against everything.

As the dildo-handler, my only beef with the Mel is that its pliable base is hard to hold. It folds in my grasp and makes thrusting Mel by hand a pain in the ass. I have bad wrists, and the extra struggle makes them lock up even faster.

squarepegtoys mel and harness use

I was really excited to test out Mel as a harness dildo, but alas! It doesn’t fit in my Talisman Leather Ardor, and it’s too cumbersome for my Temptasia Harness Briefs. I’ve really got to start reviewing more harnesses

Just from using it other ways, I can guess that the Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo is probably a little clumsy in a harness. Its prominent tilt and squishy silicone make thrusting by hand awkward; in a harness, it’s likely even more unwieldy.

The Mel as viewed from below, laying on its side on brick. Its concave suction cup base hand-trimmed.

We did try having my partner ride me and let their weight hold the Mel in place. The supple silicone base cups my pubic mound like a glove. The Mel’s sideways-curving shaft can make active riding/bouncing complicated since it’s not a straight shot back down, so grinding was our preferred way to play. (Especially without a harness to secure it.)

final thoughts on the mel silicone dildo

Someone holding the base of the Mel so it's balanced upright in front of the fireplace brick.

Not many silicone dildos are over 2 inches in diameter, especially realistic ones. Carrying Mel (2.23”), Leo (2.4”), and Big Stick (2.07”) from SquarePegToys gives girth lovers a few more great options. And with the bonus eroticism of knowing that Mel and Leo are based off very big, very real dicks.

Despite appearances, Mel doesn’t provide a highly textured experience. This big toy is all about filling you up. Mel’s girthy but cushiony-soft silicone is immensely filling and blissfully unabrasive, providing a delicious but painless (when adequately prepped) stretch. As long as I’m patient with it being wriggly when thrusted, it’s a great dildo for a thorough pounding because it’s too soft to scrape or jab. (If you have limited mobility and need thrusting/angling stability in the shaft, I don’t think I’d recommend Mel.)

Its strong suction cup makes it functional for solo use with flat surfaces, anal, and (presumably) harness use.

While I wish Mel’s surface details were less patchy, that’s more of a nitpick than a complaint depending on what you value in dildos. I like to display mine. Mel is too spongy to stay upright and stable for long, but even if it did, its appearance makes it more of a toybox toy than a shelf one.

But will you love the Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo as much as Buster’s guts do?

If you’re looking for a comfortable stretch and you’re already used to diameters over 2 inches, then Mel just might be your Squishy.

A gif of Dory saying, "I shall call him my Squishy, and he shall be mine."

You can find the Mel SuperSoft Silicone Dildo by SquarePegToys on Peepshow Toys for $62-$132 USD. (Prices can vary.)
