Review: Ardor Dragon of Lust and Love Knot Dildo by Uberrime

The Ardor Dragon of Lust and Love Dildo has an incredibly handsome silhouette. It’s thick, as one would expect from a hulking mythological creature. But to suit its lovey-dovey name, the Ardor’s armored curves are soft instead of harsh.

Uberrime doesn’t market this as a dragon knot dildo. Generally, knots are a distinct bulge towards the base of a dildo shaft. The Ardor’s “knot” is girthy but more subtly tapered into the rest of the toy. Still, it makes a big difference in use.

ardor design and features

The Uberrime Ardor Dragon of Lust and Love comes in 3 sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. The sizing goes from just above average (the Small is 6 inches tall and 1.75 inches in diameter at its widest) to massive sonofabitch (the Large is 9.5 inches tall with a faux knot wider than a soda can.) The Large Ardor is a sight to behold in person. Its hefty, plush length obscures my big hand.

Like every other Uberrime dildo, the Ardor Dragon is handmade with body-safe silicone. Silicone is non-porous, hypoallergenic, and can be sanitized between uses/users.

(How? Toss it in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes, occasionally poking it with tongs to make sure the pot doesn’t singe the edges. Or skip boiling and wash it with a 10% bleach solution, making sure to thoroughly rinse.)

SheVibe carries this dragon knot dildo in soft silicone (that’s shore 0050 to you fantasy toy nerds.) If you buy directly from Uberrime, you can order the Ardor in extra soft (shore 0030) silicone (and your choice of colors.) I generally prefer regular soft because it has a malleable muscle-like quality, where you can bend and squeeze the toy but the shape/texture has better resistance.

Visually, the Ardor Dragon Dildo suits its dragon titling, but it’s not the rough ride that it appears to be. Every ridge is smooth and the silicone finish is glossy-sleek. Even so, there’s a lot of textural intrigue. There’s different styles of scale ridges down the front and back; bumps along the tapered head’s crown; a rippled knot/swell on the lower shaft.

This is a thick, filling dildo. The Ardor’s overall shape is subtly curved, making the toy more comfortable for vaginal use. The faux knot makes it plug-like. Ideally it will lock in behind your pubic bone, with the narrower shaft beneath the knot letting your vaginal entrance relax.

The base is cloaca or vulva like, with swirls for decoration and a pair of nubby almost-horns towards the top. I love when fantasy toys do interesting things with their bases. Texture makes it easier to grip with damp fingers. It’s also easier to keep track of which way the shaft curves, based off the base. When you’re in the heat of the moment, it’s easy to get mixed up.

If I started to compliment the Ardor Dragon Dildo’s aesthetics I’d wax poetic for 1000 words. It’s just so handsome. Fat and armored like a dragon, but strangely romantic when doused in glittery pastels (like my Medium Ardor) or rich, steampunky shades (like my Large Ardor.)

our experience with ardor

This beefy dragon is a lover, not a fighter. Comparatively, every inch of the Uberrime Ardor’s much smaller peer – the ultra-rigid, ultra-textured Draken Dildo from The Realm – is an endurance challenge. The Ardor Dragon’s only challenge is its not-quite-knot.

The smoothness of the Ardor Dragon Dildo’s design really stands out in use. You’re fucking a bulky, textured dragon, but it’s a dragon designed to suit a human body. Every feature is sleek. The scaled ridges don’t jut out very far and every edge is smoothed out so nothing snags or hitches when you’re thrusting the toy. The soft silicone yields to your body, and its glossy finish just glides with lube.

The ridges are a gentle drag of fleshy pressure as you move. My partner Buster (who tests every insertable toy for this blog) especially likes how the scales being differently shaped/sized in the front vs the back makes them pay more attention to the sensations.

The fat, arched head of this dragon dildo is surprisingly comfortable. It’s prominent and angled enough to catch Buster’s g-spot with its broad crown, especially on the outstroke. But because it’s in a soft density, the impact is gentle just like the scales.

Likewise, while the Ardor has a curved silhouette, the curve isn’t particularly noticeable in-use. You’re not getting angled pressure (just the all-over pressure of the toy’s girth) because unlike a firm or even dual density dildo, the Ardor’s soft body yields to yours. The shape conforms to the vaginal canal (which is itself slightly curved) for a pretty satisfying sense of fullness though.

There are two distinct swells to the Uberrime Ardor Dragon’s faux knot. Depending on how easy you can take the added girth, this bisected shape either provides a passing flutter of sensation as you pop the whole knot in, or it’s a devilishly effective way to prolong the struggle.

The soft, musculature-like shape of the Ardor’s knot doesn’t feel as jarring as a traditional ovular canine-esque knot might. The transition feels very natural because the shaft gradually widens even before the knot. Suddenly, you realize there’s extra pressure stretching your entrance. It’s a delicious challenge to keep going.

For once, I wish we’d opted for a Medium instead. Because unfortunately, the Large Ardor Dragon’s proportions don’t quite work for Buster. The Large’s shaft is just a little too long for comfortable vaginal use for Buster. (Fully aroused, vaginas tend to be 5 to 8 inches deep. The Large Ardor has 8 insertable inches. Everyone’s body is different, so your mileage may vary.) Buster is able to take most of the knot but can’t reach the rest of the shaft. Their vaginal entrance is stuck wedged on the toy’s widest point. (This is also the case with another Uberrime toy, the Large Flora.)

Being denied the relaxation is hot in its own way, but not being able to take the Large Ardor’s full knot vaginally robs Buster of a feral sense of accomplishment. Monster fuckers are greedy! (Good thing a Medium Ardor is on my Christmas list this year…) That being said, anal users with experience in depth play will probably do just fine.

We both love the Ardor Dragon’s base. Large toys with flared bases often get stuck with massive balls or big hockey pucks. The Ardor’s base is as hefty as the toy is, but it’s aesthetically interesting and not too cumbersome. Buster can grasp it with their thighs to help keep the toy in even when they’re baring down on the knot.

final thoughts

The Ardor Dragon Dildo isn’t advertised as a knot dildo, but that didn’t stop my partner from enjoying it as such. What did stop Buster was the Large Ardor being just a little too long for their vagina. A Medium Ardor would have been a better option – but hungry eyes overestimate human holes!

What makes the Ardor one of my favorite Uberrime releases of this year is that it’s so smooth. You’re getting filled to the brim with soft, slick-surfaced silicone where every ridge and bulge is rounded off so you can thrust without worry. If you’re wanting prominent texture or a pushy g/p-spotting curve, the Ardor isn’t the love and lust dragon for you. But if you want a big, beefy lover with a gentle touch – unf. Just consider depth when you choose which faux knot you’re capable of taking!

Thank you, Uberrime, for sending me the Ardor Dragon of Lust and Love Dragon Knot Dildo in exchange for an honest review. I consider Marco (Uberrime’s founder) a friend, but that doesn’t influence my opinions of their toys except to give me additional insight and appreciation for the artistry. I still hate the Amo (functionally, not aesthetically.)

What’s a “couple’s vibrator”? Usually it’s something like the We-Vibe Chorus: a vibrator designed to compliment penis-in-vagina (PIV) sex. (The sex toy industry is pretty attentive to all things cishet, so there’s lots of ‘em.) But Wet for Her – a woman-run sex toy company […]
