We’re well past (or, depending on your perspective, way ahead of) Halloween, but as a self-professed monster fucker, my mind’s always on fantasy dildos.
The Realm is a fantasy sex toy collection from Blush Novelties. I reviewed the Realm’s Draken dragon dildo and Drago sword handle a few years ago. This time around I’m just reviewing a dildo – The Realm Lycan Werewolf Dildo – but a matching sword handle does exist if you’re interested!
The Realm Lycan is a hefty dong. This one’s definitely intended for experienced girth enthusiasts and size royalty. A true beast!

realm lycan design & features
The Realm Lycan Dildo is a monstrous 10 and a half inches tall. Several of those inches are devoted to the Lycan’s large, faux furry base. The shaft itself towers at about 8 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It’s fatter than 4 fingers tucked together or most human penises.
This dildo is what I personally consider “medium firm.” It’s flexible (you can bend the shaft in half) and squeezable, but it’s not squishy like Mr Hankey’s Davys Tentacle or the Uberrime Igneus Dragon. It’s not going to compress when you clench against it internally. You’re being fed 8 thick, completely unyielding inches. Unf.
Like most Blush Novelties dildos I own, the Realm Lycan’s surface is powdery-soft. Being so firm, the Lycan definitely has more noticeable surface grip/texture than glossy-finished dildos like the Uberrime Hydrus. Lube (stick to water-based lubes for silicone toys!) reduces the slight drag.
To fit on the Realm’s sword handles (for dick dueling or simply easier thrusting), the Realm Lycan and Draken dildos have a “lock on” hole in the base. Lock On is Blush’s version of Vac-U-Lock toys. The designs are a bit different, but most lock on and vac-u-lock accessories and toys are passably interchangeable.
As far as themeing/design goes, I’m overall pretty pleased with the Realm Lycan Werewolf Dildo. The packaging is substantial, but as a nerd who collects figures and fantasy décor, I’m too cheesed by the novelty (and display-worthiness!) to be tsk-tsking about waste. The dildo itself is appropriately beastly with a dark red shaft, an angry crisscross of veins, and skin and fur lines.
My favorite design detail is the furl of fur climbing up the underside of the shaft.
I’m less enthused about the base. If you usually squat and ride your dildos, the base makes for a sturdy foundation! Otherwise, I find it obnoxiously cumbersome. It’s a lot of silicone (which is added cost and weight – this thing is heavy!) for little reward. The tufts of fur are sexy, but in my opinion the Realm Lycan Dildo doesn’t need a full 3 inches of it. Further, the balls are positioned super low. The proportions make the base look like a furry hoof instead of a furry sack.
As a long-time slut for werewolves, I gotta say I wish all this extra space and silicone had been devoted to giving the Realm Lycan a knot. Werewolves are canines. Gimme the knot!
our experience with lycan
The Realm Lycan Werewolf Dildo is not for the faint of… hole. The head has a rounded tip but it’s not tapered: you’re taking the Lycan’s full girth from the very first inch. Using a smaller toy to warm up is ideal.
This toy requires a thorough lubing. While soft, glossy-finished dildos can sometimes glide by bodily secretion alone, the Realm Lycan’s velvety surface will drag without additional intervention. Seriously, friends: sass up.
The Lycan’s dense silicone has more give than stainless steel or glass. But its girth guarantees you’re gonna feel firmly wedged open. My partner Buster – who tests all the insertables for my reviews – says they barely notice that you can technically squeeze down on the silicone. It’s not as weighty as steel or as shovey as ultra-firm silicone, but it’s still formidable.
The Realm Lycan’s rigidity means you can really feel the head’s coronal ridge. It presses against your internal wall, pushing and petting with every thrust. (If you’re not prepared, the ridge can feel like it’s yanking when moved, so again: lube. And reapply lube during longer sessions, because the slickness can sink into the gap behind the head and leave the ridge ‘dry.’) Being so thick, the Lycan and its velvety veining – which is exaggeratedly prominent enough to be felt – provides wall-to-wall stimulation. But there’s no curve to this toy, so unless you hold the Lycan at an angle (a difficult task – but I’ll talk handling in a sec), the coronal ridge is the only g-spot/prostate specific highlight.
I get why the Lycan is straight – it’s better for mounting on the Rougarou Sword Handle. It’s also better for swift, unobstructed thrusts, which feels appropriate for a horny werewolf. Just beware that because this is a firm toy, those thrusts will be intense.
If it’s extreme texture you’re after, though, you might want to take a peek at The Realm’s other monster dick: Draken the Dragon Dildo. Although significantly smaller than the Lycan, Draken packs serious punch through ridging alone. It’s the most textured toy I own.
let’s talk about the base
There are definite downsides to this magnificent monster. I don’t just dislike the furry base on aesthetic grounds – it’s also, functionally-speaking, a fucking menace.
If you tend to straddle your dildos, you’ll probably appreciate the added bulk of the Lycan Dildo’s base because it’ll provide stability while you squat on the toy’s big shaft. It’s wide and heavy, although the smooth underside won’t ‘grip’ flat surfaces as well. (Depending on your needs, you might want to take advantage of the lock-on hole and add a suction cup.) But if you’re trying to handle this beast by hand? Howls of frustration ensue.
I have big hands, and it’s still hard for me to hold the Lycan’s base. My fingers cramp up from being spread at uncomfortable angles. My wrist gets tuckered out by the unnecessary weight. I love the Lycan’s sexy, lovingly rendered tufts of fur – but not when they get in my goddamn way. Trying to grab this thing yourself during solo use is even harder.
The base’s weight also throws the toy’s equilibrium off. It threatens to tip the shaft upward in use, which can result in a party foul if you’re using it vaginally and have a sensitive cervix. If left unattended (because your hands are elsewhere) the weight will drag the dong right out of your hole. Yes, you can grip the Lycan’s base with your thighs – but that limits your position choices.
That being said… god, I’m so happy to see some fur on a dildo. Many fantasy designs from mainstream manufacturers are subtle or strangely sterile. The Realm Lycan Werewolf Dildo is a raging red erection, crisscrossed with bulging veins and framed by animalistic hair. There’s no question this is a beast.
final thoughts on lycan
The Realm Lycan Werewolf Dildo is a large, formidable fantasy dildo. Its medium-firm silicone feels harder in use due to its sheer size, and its velvety surface and veiny textures make lube a must-have. I’m not a fan of its bulky base, which is cumbersome and difficult to hold. But if you prefer to ride your dildos you might appreciate the base as a sturdy foundation.
For me, the difficult handling of this dildo means it’s better off in its box on the shelf. Luckily it came in a very pretty package.
It’s been awhile since Blush Novelties released another Realm dildo or sword handle. I think that’s a real shame, because the concept is glorious. Who hasn’t grabbed a dildo or two and held them up as faux weapons? I hope the Realm Draken Dildo, Lycan Dildo, Drago Sword Handle, and Rougarou Sword Handle are joined by more fantasy designs in the future. Geeky Sex Toys has tentatively returned, but most of their iconic designs are shelved in favor of white label (generic) models. Nerds deserve more options.
