The Pro Intimate Pump is a vulva pump. Vulva pumps come in many sizes, shapes, and intensities. They have a variety of potential features, from interchangeable heads to licking tongues. They can be manual (via lever or bulb) or automatic (mechanical suction.) Some are built for prolonged suction and others only offer fluttering tugs of air.
There’s a lot of functionality options.
The Silicone Pro Intimate Pump is designed to be functionally simple: Place the shallow cup against your vulva and squeeze the hand bulb to create suction. If you’d like, you can turn on some vibrations too.
But as simple as the design is, I have complex feelings about this pump.

pro intimate pump design & features
The Pro Intimate Pump comes from CalExotics. For a budget-priced, battery-powered pump, it’s surprisingly sturdy. And waterproof (although I’d recommend avoiding getting water in the tubing because it’ll be hard to dry out.) The pump is made from body-safe silicone, which is hypoallergenic and non-porous.
There are three distinct parts of the Pro Intimate Pump: the stiff, spiral-lined squeeze bulb; the shallow cup and embedded bullet vibe; and the hardy, flexible tubing that connects them.
The spiral squeeze bulb reminds me of a bee hive. The ridges aren’t super pronounced, but they provide more grip than a completely flat surface would. The bulb is firm and requires some hand strength to squeeze.
The Pro Intimate Pump’s quick release mechanism is a black plastic button at the base of the bulb. Press it and the air pressure releases. As obviously important as this feature is, you’d be surprised at how many suction toys skip it. (Lookin’ at you, Pipedream and Nu Sensuelle.)
The cup is small (especially compared to pumps like the Pipedream Extreme or Temptasia Advanced pumps) and lined with soft, pokey little “ticklers.” The cup itself is thick but flexible, with a curved opening to fit against the natural curve of most vulvas. After struggling to squish my outer labia down enough to create a flat surface for straight-shaped cups, the difference this made was noticeable.
The cup is straddled by a rigid built-in bullet vibrator. The combined shape kinda reminds me of Boba Fett’s ship. It’s a shame CalExotics only offers it in a generic pastel purple – I think the Pro Intimate Pump would look neat in black or gray.
Frustratingly, the vibrator only has one setting, turned on/off by gently pressing the nipple. I mean button. You’ll need one AA battery to power it. To swap out the battery (and I’ve had to a few times), you just twist the end of the bullet off and plunk in a new one in like it’s the early aughts.
using the pro intimate pump
If you’re looking for a pump to provide powerful continuous suction and/or pussy swelling, the CalExotics Pro Intimate Pump is not it. It’s not as ineffective as the Pipedream Roto Suck-Her, but it’s a pretty mild suction toy.
Firstly, the Pro Intimate Pump is limited by the petiteness of the cup. You can’t swell up if there’s no room to expand. But temporary plumpness isn’t the only reason people pump. Sometimes pumping is just to experience some light suction to instigate arousal and heighten your skin sensitivity.
For this purpose, I enjoy the Pro Intimate Pump a lot more than I expected. Especially for a toy whose design feels a little… dated. (Though not as dated as the Pipedream Extreme Pussy Pump.)
I’m a large person (6 ft, 340ish lbs) with a proportionate vulva. At best, the Pro Intimate Pump can cover maybe half of my fat outer labia. But because of its small size (at least compared to me), the cup can also be tucked between my labia to suction over my clit.
I like to use the Intimate Pump both ways. I warm up with it suctioned to my outer labia, letting the vibrations shiver through my vulva, the combination pulling blood to my crotch to build my arousal. Then I part my labia and position it over my clit. The pull of air and shove of the ticklers tortures my clit in the best way.
With all vulva pump designs, your usage is impacted by your unique anatomy. Pumps often have an easier time with chubby pussies because there’s less gaps and plenty of skin to grasp. If you have a hard time with pumps (or you’d like an informative introduction), I have some tips in my SheVibe pumping guide.
For me, it only takes one or two bulb squeezes to achieve a suction seal, meaning the air is pulled out of the cup and it successfully stays in place. After that, I can only squeeze a few more times before there’s no air to draw. Because the cup is shallow, I have to periodically pump again to keep it in place. Especially if the vibration is on.
This does mean that the most exciting aspect of pumping – that tight, gripping pull of air – is fleeting with the Pro Intimate Pump. It’s a tease; a short, periodic tug of sensation that fades quickly into the almost non-sensation of being held but not pulled.
pump vibrations (and ticklers)
The ticklers are discernible only to my clit, and only because they softly poke in place. They don’t move (besides flexing against resistance) or tickle. When I use the pump on my outer labia, which is flatter and less sensitive, I can’t even feel them.
Since the Pro Intimate Pump’s suction is so limited, and the ticklers are a passive (almost negligible) feature, it was smart of CalExotics to add a bullet vibrator. I just wish they’d given it more range.
The Intimate Pump has just one vibration setting, and it’s not gentle. Nor is it incredibly powerful. (I’d compare it to the second setting on the Noje Fauna Mini Wand.) It’s a harsh, thrumming, but mostly buzzy ripple of power that you have 0 influence over. A milder first setting would go a long way with easing the user into the intensity and making its inclusion enjoyable rather than jarring.
I’m pretty pleased with how successfully the vibration is distributed through the entire cup. Other pumps with deeper cups struggle with that. The Pro Intimate Pump’s vibrations feel almost rumbly on the inside, and buzz without much itchiness at the cup’s lip. When I close my thighs around it (it’s ticklish, so it’s instinctive), it hums between my legs.
The vibration is controlled separately from the air pump, so using the bullet vibe is optional if you don’t like the vibrations. (Or if want to explore the sensations independently.) Because it’s built into the cup, you can’t remove the bullet for independent play. Since it’s so basic, I don’t see that as a loss.
final thoughts
I’m fine with the CalExotics Pro Intimate Pump being a tease. Brief, light suction as part of foreplay or edging is appealing. But I’m not fine with a single vibration setting, especially on a device that’s built to increase sensitivity.
Give this pump another inch or two of depth (so you can get another squeeze of pressure in), plus another vibration speed or two, and I’d enthusiastically praise it. As is, my conclusion is mixed. And it’s not helped by the “made for her” marketing language, honestly. CalExotics is usually better about that.
That being said, this is not a bad pump. It’s made of durable materials, it’s well constructed (given the price), and it’s unobtrusive. I can use it multiple ways on my body, and I feel like people with less voluptuous vulvas will also enjoy its shallow, comfortable fit. (Assuming they’re not looking for a plumping device.) Despite my many complaints, its ease of use makes it one of my favorite pumps.
