Review: Fantasy for Her Vibrating Roto Suck-Her Pump by Pipedream

A light purple vibrator laying next to an open paper bag that has fruit spilling out. The vibrator has a vulva-shaped cup at the end that serves as a pump.

This hybrid pump/vibe is… unique.

The Pipedream Roto Suck-Her is a vibrating, vulva-shaped pussy pump. But not really? Because of its shallow cup, it doesn’t have the room to function like a traditional pump. It’s more like a lightly vibratey, lightly sucky… thingy.

Like others toys I’ve reviewed from Pipedream’s Fantasy For Her line, the Roto Suck-Her is an intriguing but ultimately flawed design.

Is it still worth adding to your toy box? Let’s look at the pros and cons.

roto suck-her design

Getting this out of the way now: I hate the name. Gendering sex toys isn’t just othering to trans people, it results in tacky, forgettable names. The Fantasy For Her line is full of ‘em.

The Roto Suck-Her on its side, the cup/face turned at an angle.

The Roto Suck-Her is about 9 inches long, with a handle that feels thick/bulky even in my sizable grip. Luckily the head swivels (up, down, and – to a lesser degree – left and right) so you’ve got some literal wiggle room for how to hold the toy.

There are 3 large plastic buttons on the shaft: vibration, the suction function, and suction release. They’re easy to press, but the letters differentiating them are printed, not etched. If your vision is limited (or you’re using the Roto Suck-Her in the dark) you’ll have to remember which one is which. But they do light up when you push them.

The overall design aesthetic is, uh, pretty plain. Still, the Roto Suck-Her sets itself apart by giving the pump face an abstract vulva design. There are very few toys besides realistic strokers that feature vulvas, so I was eager to get my queer paws on this toy. (Thanks to SheVibe for sending it over!)

The silicone cup is soft, flexible, and very shallow. It feels great. The clitoris design has a ridged hood, presumably to provide some grinding texture. On the edge of the cup, there’s a curled limb with a beaded tip that looks like the tip of an elf’s shoe. It can be pulled to break the seal formed by suction.

Despite being new and having a $70 USD pricetag, the Roto Suck-Her lacks 2 modern sex toy features. It’s not waterproof and it’s not rechargeable. When you’re washing it (with water and a mild, face-safe soap) you’ll have to be careful not to get water in the seams. To keep it powered, you gotta pop in a pair of triple A’s.

This might not sound like a big deal, but the extra time/effort can make toy use tedious. (Especially if you’re already tired, short on time, or don’t keep extra batteries on hand.)

getting a good fit

Like many sex toys, the Pipedream Roto Suck-Her is primarily designed for folks with an exposed clitoris. This means a clit that’s not ‘buried’ by your outer labia, like mine is. If I want to stimulate my clitoris directly – like, say, pressing the Roto Suck-Her’s ridged clit nub against it – I have to spread my labia.

As you can imagine, doing this with the Roto Suck-Her is awkward and kind of uncomfortable. It also means I can’t lay the cup flat and use the suction. I knew this before I received the Roto Suck-Her, so I wasn’t disappointed – but it’s something to keep in mind if you have a similar body shape.

Pumps work best on flat (by which I mean “consistent surface and height”), fatty surfaces. To help create a seal, you can line the cup with lube. I have a chubby, mostly hairless vulva, so I’ve very rarely encountered a pump that doesn’t work for me. The Roto Suck-Her latches right on!

Interestingly, my partner Buster – who often struggles with pumps because of the sloped shape of their vulva – can sometimes use the Roto Suck-Her too. I think this is because the cup is so shallow and flexible, so it can be slightly mushed into place.

using the suction function

As for the pump (or at least pump-esque) function of the toy… this is not a pump for folks who are looking for strong suction or a vulva-plumping effect. The Fantasy for Her Roto Suck-Her’s suction is gentle, like a sucking kiss. On the first setting, this “kiss” comes in short, tugging pulses. Most of the time, the cup remains sealed in place between pulls. (The second setting just lengthens the pulsing.) On the third setting, the suction is continuous.

The Roto Suck-Her on its side, showing how shallow the cup is.

The downside to the cup’s shallowness is that after one pull, the cup is full. That means that although the pump keeps sucking, but there’s no room for the suction to draw air. The Roto Suck-Her’s motor keeps whirring away, but there’s no tugging/sucking sensation.

It might be due to my outer labia not being particularly sensitive, but to me there’s barely any sense of pressure once the Roto Suck-Her is suctioned tight. So not only is the sensation of suction incredibly brief, but there’s no stimulation afterwards – unless you turn on the vibrations.

The Roto Suck-Her’s air release button is great. It immediately exhales the air, making the pump pop free. A light pull to the pump’s beaded tip also easily breaks the seal. These safety/comfort measures are great… but since the suction is so mild, I’ve never needed either of them. It doesn’t hurt to yoink the Roto Suck-Her off myself.

roto suck-her vibrations

Generally, battery-powered sex toys aren’t as strong as rechargeable sex toys. They just don’t have enough juice to back them up. The Roto Suck-Her is no exception.

The Roto Suck-Her compared to the Kink Automatic Pump

The vibrations are wispy. By that I mean they’re mild (on the weak end of the Iroha Zen to Magic Wand spectrum) and buzzy (surface level, often numbing or a bit itchy.) That being said, I do enjoy the unique tantalization of having them running through the whole cup, which hugs to my body more intimately than the Kink Automatic Pump. (The Kink Pump’s vibrations are objectively stronger, but they feel more distant/diffused.)

The Roto Suck-Her has one setting speed and numerous pattern settings. I’m not a fan of patterns, so I rarely venture past the first setting.

final thoughts

The Pipedream Roto Suck-Her feels like a foreplay toy. It’s gentler than even the lowest setting of any other pump I’ve tried, so it’s a more pleasant experience than, say, sticking the Kink Automatic Pump on my junk before I’m warmed up. You can use the Roto Suck-Her to tease your vulva and get your body keyed into sex… but it’s definitely not something most folks would use to actually get off. It just doesn’t offer stimulation that’s substantial enough.

If you’re after a very, very mild suction toy, the Roto Suck-Her is the gentlest I’ve ever tried. I’ve enjoyed using it while making out, letting it stay unobtrusively suctioned to my vulva while buzzy vibrations tickle my nerves awake. But I don’t enjoy it enough to hunt down more batteries when these die.

Give me this same toy with better vibrations, a deeper cup, and more suction settings. And a different fucking name. Keep the wonderfully queer vulva shape, the sensually supple silicone cup, and the gentle first settings for warm-up. Cake, eating, let’s have both.
