Many sex toy users are concerned about discretion. Only around 14% of adults in the US live alone – that means most of us are cohabitating with children, relatives, and roommates. If you’re concerned about keeping your sex toys private, you might have found yourself burying them in your sock drawer or stashing them in the top of your closet.
But speaking from experience, those aren’t great hiding places. You’re stuck pawing around last minute for a linty dildo or a vibrator you didn’t get a chance to charge. Sex toy use is already heavily stigmatized, and feeling like you’re “sneaking around” only reinforces that feeling.
“Sex toys deserve better than a shameful, messy hiding place,” writes Plume founder Lidia Bonilla. “Why bury what makes you feel good? Why bring shame into sex? I wanted something that was both functional and elegant enough to be kept out of the drawer.”
Plume’s Moi Box Deluxe is a sex toy storage solution with perks: it’s lockable, allows you to discreetly charge your toys, and comes with a bonus travel bag.

the moi box deluxe sex toy storage
This sturdy lockbox is 9.5 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. It’s described as being made from “medium density fiberboard” with a lacquer finish; it feels like a cross between resin and metal. It’s incredibly sleek to the touch.
The surface likes to smudge, so watch those fingertips if you don’t feel like wiping down the lid to bring it back to a pristine shine.
The Moi Box Deluxe has a leather strap in the front that fits over a stainless steel latch. I love this material choice – leather is very sexy. The cowhide is dense enough to deter a curious 11 year old with a pair of scissors. But if you ever forget your code (or lose your key if you choose to replace the lock), with some determination and time you’ll be able to saw through to rescue your We-Vibe Nova.
The lid opens easily and gets held in place by a leather stabilizing strap. There’s a gap beneath the lid’s hinge that allows you to pass charge cords through. It’s an incredibly clever addition. If discretion is important to you and you can’t spare 3 hours to babysit your plugged in vibes, the Moi Box lets them hide in plain sight.
The inside is featureless except for a pair of tabs that hold the Moi traveling case. It comes complementary with the Moi Box Deluxe, but you can also purchase it separately.
You can store any body-safe sex toy material together in this box. That means actual silicone, glass, hard plastic, stainless steel, and specially finished wood and ceramic. I also kept a pair of sturdy leather cuffs and a bottle of lube in my Moi Box.
The Moi Box’s sleek material is pretty hardy. I purposefully spilled some Sliquid in the bottom, and it wiped up easily and didn’t leave any residue. Plume recommends regularly wiping the box down inside and out with a wet cloth.
The Moi Box isn’t designed to store wand vibrators and XL fantasy dildos. It’s made for the average casual users’ collections. That being said, I was delighted to discover that several of my larger toys fit, like the Uberrime Aqua King, the Velvet Thruster Teddy (when it’s retracted), SquarePeg Mel, and the PalmPower Extreme Wand.
(Looking up the size of your toys to see if the Moi Box Deluxe can accommodate them? Remember that not all toy listings take balls or suction cup bases into account.)
I do wish the case was 10.5-11’ long instead of 9.5’. A little more room would go a long way for us size royalty!
mini moi case for traveling
Pre-pandemic, my partner and I were frequently out of town. We did staycations with friends, house and/or pet sit, and visited loved ones in other states. While it was usually easy to decide what sex toys were coming along for the ride, it was harder to incorporate them into our packing.
The Moi Case won’t store my Hitachi Magic Wand (and neither will the Moi Box Deluxe, for that matter.) But it will keep my usual travel buddies all in one discreet, easily accessible (to me!) place.
This convenient bag is made of nylon with an “antibacterial coating” (something I see advertised on a lot of sex toy storage bags.) It has a thin handle on top like a makeup case, and two zipper pulls with loops on the end so you can lock them together. The zipper’s metal teeth and tabs are sturdy and high-quality.
I love that the Moi Case can be locked. Even locked, it can be unzipped enough to pull some charge cords through, so you can discreetly juice your toys on the go.
The Moi Case is has rigid sides to help keep its shape. Unfortunately, the case isn’t crush-proof. It’ll still bend with force, so don’t expect it to hold up against an overstuffed suitcase. To help you keep your collection organized (and not just loosely banging into each other), there’s a mesh pocket on the lid and a few stretchy holding bands on the bottom.
The Zumio – one of my favorite travel toys because it’s quiet but incredibly strong – is infamously easy to snap. I can tuck it into a band and know it won’t jostle around and get broken… but I’ll probably still be cautious and make sure the Moi Case is at the top of my bag. For most other sex toys, I wouldn’t think twice about just tossing it wherever.
The case is only 3 inches deep, so you’re limited on what can fit. But it’s convenient for taking a few things to a hookup or on a post-pandemic trip.
final thoughts on the moi box and case
I really appreciate the Moi Box Deluxe’s thoughtful design. The box itself is sleek and attractive, and the leather lock strap adds a touch of sexiness that regular lock boxes lack. You can be discreet without having to feel like you’ve got a clunky tool box on your nightstand.
But the best and most unique thing about the Moi Box is the charging cord slot. It takes all the drama out of keeping your rechargeables juiced.
I wish the bonus Mini Moi Case was sturdier. But it serves its purpose well if you’re not prone to overpacking and crushing things in your suitcase or backpack like I am. I personally wouldn’t buy it on its own, but I’ll gladly take it as a bonus with the Moi Box.
The Moi Box Deluxe and Mini Moi Case combo can be bought directly from House of Plume for $60 USD, or from Amazon for $80 USD.
