Review: Nova 2 Rechargeable Dual Stimulation Rabbit Vibrator by We-Vibe

The Nova 2 dual stimulating vibrator laying on its side, surrounded by tiny craft hearts.

Rabbit vibrators like the We-Vibe Nova 2 are a hot commodity because they’re designed for simultaneous clitoral and vaginal pleasure. Whether you’re after blended orgasms, or you just enjoy both kinds of stimulation, rabbit vibrators are supposed to save you from the hassle of juggling multiple toys when you masturbate or have sex.

The problem is that rabbit vibrators are anatomy-dependent: to function as designed, both “arms” have to line up with your body. But everyone’s proportions are unique, so what fits your body might not work for someone else (and vice versa.)

Unlike clothing, you can’t go to a store and try a rabbit vibrator on to see if it fits you. And you definitely can’t return it if it doesn’t fit.

But the We-Vibe Nova 2 Dual Stimulator is all about versatile fit.

next generation nova design

We-Vibe is known for its clever, high-quality designs. The Nova 2 (which you can get in Barney-esque maroon, midnight blue, or deep green) is no different.

This rabbit is rechargeable, waterproof (for bathtime fun and easier cleaning), and comes with a satiny drawstring storage bag. The Nova 2 has not one but two motors – one in each arm – that provide the strong, rumbling vibrations I’ve come to expect from We-Vibe. The entire toy is coated in soft, body-safe silicone that’s plusher in the tips for a satisfying dual density squish. (My partner Buster calls the silicone “decadent.”)

Basically, it’s fancy.

But this is We-Vibe, so it’s not just fancy, it’s smart.

The Nova 2 Dual Stimulator is compatible with the We Connect app, so you can use your phone like a remote or cede control to a long distance partner. The charger is magnetic and – unlike my now-discontinued Tango 1 – it’s so strong I can pick the whole toy up by the cord. No more accidental disconnecting!

But the truly impressive part of the Nova’s design is its thoughtful versatility. We-Vibe wanted to make a rabbit vibe that will work with most people’s anatomy, and damn if they didn’t put 90% of other rabbits to shame.

In order to fit the user’s unique anatomy, the Nova’s insertable arm is bendable at the base so you can adjust the angle. The clitoral arm is broad and flexible, so it covers your clitoris regardless of where it’s located. Because the arm is curled, it maintains contact with your clitoris even if you thrust the toy. Here’s a quick demonstration:

Obviously, the Nova won’t work for everyone with a vagina. The insertable arm’s 1.45 inch diameter (which is the average width of penises and dildos) might be too girthy or too slim for your needs. The clitoral arm might provide too much pressure or not enough pinpoint targeting. You might prefer your vibrations buzzy (surface-level and high-pitched) rather than rumbly (deeply resounding) like the Nova.

But “won’t work for everyone” and “will work really well for a majority of rabbit seekers” are coexisting sentiments.

how strong is the nova 2?

Usually, I coyly avoid talking about whether or not a toy’s vibrations are good until this point in the review. It’s review foreplay and it’s fun for me, okay? But if you read the prior section, you’ll see me state it upfront: the Nova 2 is strong and rumbly.

I don’t think a sense of anticipation is necessary for this rabbit. It’s a good toy. It will likely be called the “best” (to the extent that any toy can be “best” when our pleasure needs are so individual) rabbit vibrator for years to come.

The Nova 2 Dual Stimulator’s vibrations are so fucking good. They’re not just rumbly, they’re thumpy, roiling through the arms of the toy like superspeed waves. Internally, it feels like the shaft itself is undulating/rubbing even though it’s not. The thumpiness is even more tangible on the lower settings, a deep-massaging pulse against your clit and in your cunt that feels more… physical than any vibration I’ve ever felt before.

In terms of strength, I’d say the vibrations are on par with some of my favorite g-spot vibrators: Pillow Talk Sassy, Satisfyer Charming Smile, and Blush Wellness G-Curve. The internal arm motor seems stronger than the clitoral one – but some of my session notes claim otherwise, so depending on physical sensitivity it’s close to a tie.

The vibrations do tickle into the handle, but not as badly as most insertable vibes I own. That’s good, because you’ll probably spend a lot of time pawing at the handle.

The Nova’s buttons are pretty straight-forward – 1 to switch between motors, 2 to increase/decrease vibration strength, 2 to click through steady settings or patterns – but it’s tricky to remember it all in the moment. The buttons are only slightly raised, so they can be hard to feel out and click. Especially with wet fingers.

The Nova 2 is surprisingly quiet given its power. A fan or some music will obscure it to most invasive ears. It’s much quieter than the idling motorcycle sounding We-Vibe Wand.

how the clitoral arm works

The We-Vibe Nova 2’s clitoral arm is tightly curled so that its broad, flat face will constantly push out against the clitoris – even when you’re thrusting – because it’s like a spring straining to unfurl. When you hold the toy still, the curl provides constant pressure on your clit. Not as much as if you were holding the vibrator firmly yourself, but more than your average bunny.

The silicone is smooth and buttery-soft on the surface. The clitoral arm does a great job at staying in place, but any shifting/rubbing while you’re thrusting or writhing in place isn’t going to hurt. It feels silkier and more pleasurable with a dollop of water-based lube though.

The arm is about twice as wide as the We-Vibe Tango bullet. This is great, because it covers a larger portion of the user’s vulva so it doesn’t miss your clit. If you prefer direct clitoral contact and your outer labia are thick or swell when you’re aroused (like my partner’s), you might have to adjust the arm now and then for a better fit.

Many rabbit vibrators have a single motor in the shaft, and rely on that motor’s vibrations to travel up through the clitoral arm. We-Vibe didn’t make that sacrifice/mistake. The Nova 2’s clitoral arm motor is robust and rumbly. On the highest setting, they’re a little over half as strong as the We-Vibe Tango – which is pretty impressive for a rabbit.

The strength and thumpiness of the vibrations reverberate through your vulva and pubic mound. If you prefer your vibrations buzzy and pinpoint, that’s something to keep in mind.

the nova 2 as an insertable

The We-Vibe Nova 2’s insertable arm has a deep g-spot curve, but it’s also hinged at the base so it can be bent into an even more intense bow. This bendability is fully contained – you can’t feel the hinge, and it holds its place so securely that you can only adjust it with a firm grip. The shaft itself has a few points where you can straighten it out, but only subtly.

The We-Vibe Nova Rabbit Vibe is a great g-spotter. The curve and broad “head” makes it easier to find and massage your urethral sponge (the area of the vagina where the g-spot is located.) It’s so good, in fact, that if you don’t like your g-spot messed with – and not everyone does! – you’ll probably find the Nova 2 too stimulating.

My partner Buster – who tests all the insertable sex toys for my blog because I have vaginismus – really liked the dual density feel of the insertable arm’s bulbous head. “I wouldn’t call it squishy, but it’s comfortable and cushioned,” they wrote in their notes. This cushioning helps soften the aggressively targeted pressure of the head on your g-spot, especially when you thrust the toy.

The Nova 2’s handle gives you extra control over the toy’s reach. Buster likes thrusting, rocking, and rubbing insertable toys at specific angles to massage different parts of their vaginal walls, and the Nova makes it easy. The handle also gives thick thighs something to hold in place if you want to use the toy hands-free.

using the we-connect app

I’ve had trouble with We-Vibe’s app with previous toys. While the Nova 2 seems to have a much easier time connecting – and staying connected – overall, we’ve never had a session where we didn’t have to reconnect it to my aging Galaxy S9 at least once.

What I like most about the app is the visualizer. It helps me conceptualize what patterns will feel like for my partner when I’m in control. It’s one thing to click “wave,” it’s another to watch sweeps of color rise and fall on the screen – and listen to the hitch in their breath when the vibration rumbles harder because I’ve adjusted the lines with my fingertip.

The toy is surprisingly responsive to my adjustments on the app. There’s a second-long lag (sometimes two), but my touch-based tweaks make a genuinely noticeable change in the vibration. That was something I wasn’t always sure of with the Moxie.

App control makes sex toys more accessible. It opens up a new world of play for people in long distance relationships. And it makes me feel like an orgasm conductor. I’m happy to see We-Vibe continuing to better their app.

final thoughts

Quality comes with a price tag, and this one is about $140 USD. Oof! That’s a hell of an investment for a sex toy – but not an unusual one. Sex toys are becoming better designed and more unique, and companies like We-Vibe know that we’re willing to pay more if it means the toy is going to be great. The Nova 2 is great.

The Nova 2 leaned against its box.

There are a lot of rabbit vibrators out there. But the Nova 2 beats them all in a combination of versatility, power, and rumbliness. Not to mention it’s easy to charge, easy to clean, and you can bring it into the bath or shower for some quality me time. (Or us time – let a partner hold the handle, or sit next to the tub and play on the app.)

If simultaneous clitoral and vaginal stimulation is something you crave, and not something you’re willing to compromise on, then I think the Nova 2 is worth saving up for. If you’re only an occasional rabbit user or someone who’s just curious but on a budget, you might want to go with something from Vedo or Blush Novelties instead.
