Review: Lush Iris Thrusting Rabbit Vibrator with Clitoral Pulsation by Blush Novelties

Many folks with vaginas dream of an all-in-one sex toy, a Sonic Screwdriver that will save them from the hassle of managing multiple toys simultaneously. That’s why dual stimulation toys like rabbits are so popular: they pleasure you inside and out.

The Lush Iris Rabbit from Blush Novelties meets this fabled all-in-one criteria. It offers air pulsation for your clit, and a self-thrusting and self-warming shaft for your vag. Say goodbye to the days of holding a Womanizer in one hand and pistoning a dildo with the other!

Although – as with any sex toy – there are some caveats.

the lush iris rabbit design

How does the Lush Iris work its magic? The circular opening on the air pulsation arm is designed to fit over your clit, touchlessly enveloping it with fluttering air that feels like suction or pleasurable tapping. The shaft has a mechanical arm inside that thrusts and sways it in different patterns, massaging your inner wall and g-spot.

(Make sure you watch the demo with the sound on, because the mechanical whirring this toy makes is uniquely indiscreet. I don’t mind it because robots are hot, but folks who are less keen on scifi fuckery might not enjoy its shrillness.)

The Iris’s thrusting shaft is 1.25” in width (although it seems much girthier in person.) It features thin ridges for extra stimulation, and soft accordion-like folds that stretch out so the toy can move. The tip is smooth, domed, and has a lot of squish because there’s a layer of air between the toy’s inner mechanisms and its powdery-sleek silicone surface.

Currently, this rabbit only comes in purple.

The Lush Iris Rabbit is rechargeable, which means you don’t have to resort to cannibalizing your tv remote at 2 a.m. Its two main features – the air pulsation and the thruster – are given just one button each on the handle, with indented symbols in the silicone so you can tell the difference between them even when you can’t see them.

Single button controls are annoying. If you want to decrease intensity during use (or go back to the prior thrusting style), you’re stuck clicking back through every single setting. In exchange, the Iris Rabbit’s buttons are larger and more responsive than most toys. I’ll always take accessibility over convenience, buuut I’m still gonna whine about it.

The warming function is automatic, heating the toy to just above body temperature.

does the lush iris fit my partner’s body?

The Lush Iris is pretty fuckin’ unique. Rabbit vibrators are decades old, but self-thrusting, self-warming rabbits with air pulsation are new. When Peepshow Toys reached out about reviewing the Lush Iris, my partner Buster was adamant that I accept. (Peepshow is too good to us, y’all.)

Most sex toy reviewers are cautious about recommending rabbit-style toys. To work as intended, a rabbit has to line up with your clit and your vagina (and your g-spot, if you’re keen on g-spot stimulation.) Everyone’s body is different, so there’s a decent chance that certain rabbits won’t work with your unique proportions. Some, like the We-Vibe Nova, have flexible arms to accommodate different body shapes… but due to the toy’s inner mechanisms, the Lush Iris’s arms are rigid.

The Lush Iris doesn’t fit my partner perfectly. The toy has to be held at an extreme angle, with the handle tilted down between their thighs. This position is great for g-spotting, but uncomfortably awkward to hold. The air pulsation’s downward-facing opening just barely reaches their dick (clitoris), and would often pop out of place.

experiencing the lush iris’s thrusting

I was cautious about the Lush Iris’s thrusting. We’ve had bad experiences with similar tech, like the CalExotics Eclipse Probe catching and pinching skin because its thrusting mechanisms weren’t covered properly. (The things my partner suffers through for this blog…)

But I had nothing to fear, because Blush Novelties didn’t take shortcuts like CalExotics. The Lush Iris Self-Thrusting Rabbit’s internal mechanisms are hidden/covered with plush silicone, and the accordion-like lower shaft feels like any other ridged dildo. There’s no pinching or grabbing.

Still, the Iris is definitely a toy you want to slick up with lube. Its quick, chaotic movements create a lot of rubbing near the vaginal opening. With non-silicone lube (we love Sliquid Sassy!), the texture just glides. Without it…

Although the Lush Iris Rabbit has multiple thrust patterns, Buster couldn’t identify much difference between them except for speed. The motions are shallow and concentrated over the urethral sponge (where the g-spot is located.) Despite some interesting variations between settings, Buster says all the bobbing and tilting “mostly just feels like short, petting rotations.”

Buster actually prefers the Iris when we turn the air pulsation off. It’s still in the way, so they can only use a small vibe on their dick (usually the strong and flexible FemmeFunn Ultra Bullet.) When we’re not worrying about keeping the clitoral arm in the right place, we’re able to angle the Iris deeper. Its roving thrusts are exquisite when pressed where Buster actually wants them: closer to their a-spot. The shaft dips and sways in tight, consistent patterns that don’t linger for too long in one spot, but also don’t stray too far. For Buster, it’s a thorough fuck, but not an overwhelming one.

If g-spot stimulation is your aim, the Iris Self-Thrusting Rabbit is a dedicated and relentless g-spotter. But if you’re willing to forgo the rabbit’s clitoral stimulation, its swaying and swirling can be applied anywhere.

is the lush iris’s air pulsation strong?

Air pulsation is very different from vibration. Depending on your body, sensitivity, and the toy’s motor, it can feel like suction, tapping or fluttering, or a weird pulsating combination of both. It’s intense and amazing.

To get the best results, the toy needs an airtight fit over your clitoris. If the opening doesn’t rest flat against your inner vulva, the pulsations of air can become stuttery or stop feeling like anything at all. (I had this problem with the Womanizer Liberty.) This means the Lush Iris needs an even more exact fit to your body than your usual vibrating rabbit.

A comparison shot of the Womanizer Liberty, Satisfyer Pro 2, and Lush Iris.

With a bit of finagling, Buster can get an okay seal. On more vigorous thrusting modes, they have to keep a hand on the handle (as opposed to just holding it in place with their thighs) to make sure the Iris doesn’t scoot off.

The Lush Iris is pretty mild, as fair as air pulsators go. Its highest setting doesn’t quite match the Satisfyer Traveler’s or Satisfyer Pro 2’s middle tiers. If your clit is sensitive you’re new to this technology, or if you find most air pulsators too strong, the Iris’s 7 intensity levels will provide plenty of range. Buster, however, uttered a disgruntled “that’s it?” the first time they hit the 7th setting.

The Iris is strong enough to make Buster orgasm, but not as strong as they were hoping. For power royalty like Buster, sometimes the best orgasms are the ones punched out of you before you can catch your breath. The Iris’s gentler approach means a slower buildup.

final thoughts on the iris

While the Lush Iris Rabbit is an excellent toy, and an all-in-one is super convenient when you’re in the mood for everything all at once, make no mistake: this purchase is a gamble. Especially if you don’t already own (or have tried) a self-thrusting dildo and an air pulse toy.

Will this toy fit your body? Is the mechanical noise too distracting? Will you enjoy mechanical thrusting and gyrating? Will you enjoy suction-like bursts of air on your clit? Will you enjoy them happening simultaneously – or else be patient about having one turned off and in the way whenever you use the other?

I think the Lush Iris Rabbit is absolutely worth the gamble, but I have the benefit of hindsight. I’ve seen how Buster has gripped the Iris’s handle like a lifeline, their entire body squirming as the Iris sucked and fucked them through an orgasm.

There’s also the fact that the Iris is only $70. It’s only a bit more expensive than my favorite budget air pulse toys, and cheaper than most self-thrusting dildos and vibrators. Having both rolled into one makes it a hell of a deal.
