Review: Dragon Claw Silicone We-Vibe Tango Sleeve by Uberrime

The Dragon Claw Silicone We-Vibe Tango Sleeve by Uberrime is equal parts claw and tentacle, perhaps intended to be the sucker-bellied digit of an aquatic monster that prowls the depths in search of prey and mate alike. I could ask the artist what kind of creature he had in mind when he crafted the Dragon Claw (and its purple-swirled twin, the Talon), but the wonderfully weird possibilities I’ve come up with on my own have more than satisfied me.

But while I can’t definitively tell you what kind of beast the Dragon Claw came from, I can tell you what it’s used for: bullet vibes. As its name implies, the silicone serves as a sleeve for the bullet vibrator of your choice (as long as it’s close to the Tango’s width of 0.75-inch) so you can enjoy the Dragon Claw’s unique, slightly squishy textures paired with your favorite vibrations.

My greedy but budget-bound fingers haven’t snatched up a We-Vibe Tango (yet), but I do have Blush Novelties’ affordable alternative: the Exposed Nocturnal. It’s a bit fatter than the Tango (0.87-inch), but with a dollop of lube – as suggested by Uberrime – it wiggles right in!

(Heh. That’s what ze said.)

I was elated that Uberrime chose to provide me with the Dragon Claw, and not just because it’s a gorgeously fiendish design. I like the Exposed Nocturnal, but its strong vibrations feel like they’re attacking me – and I was hoping a silicone sleeve like the Dragon Claw could diffuse the Nocturnal’s power into a less harsh, more broadly applied rumble.

And the texture on this thing? Unf.

silicone of the oceanic kind

The Dragon Claw Silicone Tango Sleeve is made out of body safe silicone; it’s springy but firm, and has a flat, non-suction base. The Dragon Claw’s muted aquatic coloration is a marbling of blue and green with the delightful addition of sparkles, and because it’s handmade, every toy’s marbling will be a little different.

Texturally, there are several points of interest on the Dragon’s Claw: the spine-like ridging down the back, the blanket of 50 suckers along the underside, and the clawed tip itself, smooth with a curved back and concave pad. Each texture offers unique sensations, which makes the Dragon Claw both visually interesting and functionally versatile. Very, very versatile.

the touch of the beast

Before I bought my first vibrator as a young adult, I often masturbated by rubbing off with plastic bottled water, because the sides were ribbed. It was clumsy and largely ineffective, because the ridging was too broad and the bottle itself was too cumbersome. Still, it was my favorite method.

The Dragon Claw Silicone Tango Sleeve is the answer to my long-ago prayers for a better way. To get the bumpy glide I once craved, I can either use the spined back of the sleeve – which smacks my clit with squishy-yet-firm ribs – or I can use either of the more subtly bumpy sides. If I move it fast enough, the slick pull of the less distinct swells feel almost wave-like against my clit. It’s intense, it’s wet and oh so noisy (especially with lube), and it’s good. (Though still a bit cumbersome, since I have a larger pubic mound and have to hold myself open to make jerking the Dragon Claw around a more streamlined task.) If your clit likes a thorough rubbing, you may fall as deeply in love with this toy as I have.

But better than the Dragon Claw Sleeve’s bumps is its plethora of tiny suckers. There are fifty in all, smushed into dense rows that form a deliciously uneven surface. Each tiny whirl is slightly different, and while the results are noticeably imperfect, for me that adds to the Dragon Claw’s charm. When I rub these suckers against my junk, it’s almost euphoric – so many squishy points of contact, gliding slick and smoothly rippled. Depending on how hard I press, it’s either feet-kickingly good or delightfully ticklish… but if I’m not already aroused or I’ve already come, it veers very quickly into too fucking much.

Then there’s the clawed fingertip. I love using this as a tease (swirling it around my clit like a cursory finger, or pushing it into my cunt while I’m bucking against its tentacled underside) but Buster found a more creative use. “If you have it facing your junk with the indented tip against you and drag it up over your dick* and rub off with it… [it feels] kinda suction-y. It’s not powerful suction, but it feels good and the suckers below rub against my outer labia.”

(*Buster prefers dick terminology for their genitals conversationally; on me, the same body part is a clit!)

The Dragon Claw can also be used for penetration; this includes anal because it has an appropriately flared base to keep your body from drawing it too deep. It’s knobby and interesting, but too small and a tad too firm for Buster to enjoy usually the texture internally.

This is all, admittedly, much more work than my usual self-pleasure session of ‘place toy on junk and wait for orgasm’. But sometimes I do want to feel more engaged with getting off, and the extra effort of really utilizing the Dragon Claw Silicone Sleeve is one way I can reconnect with my body and its ever-shifting preferences. Effort forces me to be present.

This has been especially helpful recently, as depression and personal stuff has left me feeling disconnected from my body. I’ve been struggling to get ‘in the mood,’ and never know what exactly I’m in the mood for. Because of the Dragon Claw’s versatility of use, and its silent promise of better sensation through good old fashioned elbow grease, I’ve reached for it nearly every time I’ve wanted to get off in the two months I’ve had it… to the detriment of getting my other reviews done, even.

And – it’s noisy. So deliciously noisy. Pair it with lube like Sliquid Sassy and the wet sound of its textured silicone gliding over your body will put even the most gratuitous tentacle hentai to shame. Hearing Buster use it is one of my favorite sex things of late.

lubey dick

To insert the bullet vibe of your choice without getting lube on your fingers, dribble just a bit on the inner rim of the sleeve’s hole, and give your bullet a little twist as you push it in. This will spread the lube, and make removing it easier.

Sometimes air gets trapped inside the sleeve – rewarding you with an amusing fart noise as it tries to escape – so wriggle the bullet to get rid of it so you can push the vibrator all the way in. (A portion of the bullet should still protrude.)

Getting the bullet back out is as easy as giving the bullet another little twist and pulling it free – if you haven’t let it set so long that the lube has dried. If the lube is still tacky, pressing two fingers on either side of the bullet base and ‘pumping’ the sleeve can help wriggle it out. If the lube has dried because you took, say, a three day depression nap… it takes some serious finagling. (At least with the technically oversized Exposed Nocturnal.) If you have limited hand strength, try not to forget to remove it!

I actually tore the silicone just a teensy bit with my nail from being too rough getting the Nocturnal out, but this has literally no impact on the toy. Silicone dildos are silicone all the way through!

i came from vibrations beneath the sea

I reviewed the Exposed Nocturnal from Blush Novelties back in September. Of its power, I wrote, “…all my junk knows is that it’s getting a pummeling worthy of a forced orgasm. On its highest settings, the Nocturnal packs the punch of a proper wand-styled vibrator on its low to mid-tier settings, but funnels it into a much smaller package. It’s fucking fantastic, and way too much for me on most days.” And, yeah. Definitely still true.

This is why I love the idea of a silicone bullet sleeve so much. The Dragon Claw takes the Nocturnal’s vibrations and distributes them over a broader, softer surface, lessening that forced pummeling – though not as much as I might have expected. The Dragon Claw doesn’t do much to muffle the Nocturnal’s strength, which is great news for power fiends who might dismiss a sleeve as a dampener. The vibrations are about the same, they’re just enveloped and spread through the highly textured semi-squish.

Obviously, the strength and quality of vibrations with the Dragon Claw will depend on your bullet of choice. If you’re not already in possession of one and the We-Vibe Tango’s price tag ($80 USD) is too daunting for your budget, the Nocturnal is just $32 USD at SheVibe and most reviewers agree it’s a worthy dupe. (The downside is that even its lowest setting is intense, so it’s not friendly to those with sensitive vulvas – but if you’re looking at a highly textured toy, you’re probably already game.)

monsters, sink

Silicone is blessedly simple to take care of, especially when it’s in dildo form and doesn’t have any internal machinery to contend with. To wash your Dragon Claw, just use mild soap (like a gentle facial cleanser or hand soap, whatever’s by your bathroom sink) and water. You can also put it in the top rack of your dishwasher!

Washing the Dragon Claw We-Vibe Tango Sleeve by hand is mostly an easy go despite the texture, especially if you get a bit of lather going. But there are some cleaning ‘trouble spots’, which are my only genuine criticism of the Dragon Claw. You need to make sure you adequately rinse its suckers, as there are a few divots that can hide gunk or soap residue. There’s also the row of suckers on the left edge that aren’t as pressed into the shaft as the rest; this leaves some space between and – in one case – slightly beneath them where you have to double-check for cleanliness. Not a big deal! We scrub intricately stitched zombie dicks in this household.

To sterilize it (important to do if you’re sharing it with partners you’re not fluid-bonded with, or if you’re switching from anal to vaginal use between sessions) just give it a thorough wash in a 10% bleach solution or toss it in a pot on the stove for a quick boil. (In doing the latter, make sure it doesn’t touch the bottom for too long – a five minute boil with occasional jostling from a utensil should be fine, or you can be a nervous nanny like me and hold it in the water with tongs.)

embrace the kraken!

I feel like I’m saying this a lot lately, but – I’m happy to see more fantasy toys making their way onto the digital shelves of my favorite online sex toy shops. Too few people even know such options exist, which is a damn shame because more shoppers should be presented with the option of fucking some claw-fingered monster of the deep. So a genuine huzzah to SheVibe and other retailers who are quietly adding more fantasy to their inventories!

The Dragon Claw Silicone We-Vibe Tango Sleeve is an excitingly textured toy that can be used internally if desired, but is best used for deliciously sensation-heavy clitoral play. It has allowed me to use the Exposed Nocturnal more often, and it’s given me the opportunity to explore tactile variations on my junk again and enjoy more involved than my habitual and often lazy methods of masturbation. And it’s so dang pretty, right down to the ghostly bubbles submerged in the silicone’s base.

If texture is your thing – or if you’re curious to know if it might be – then the Dragon Claw Silicone Sleeve (or maybe its twin, the Talon) is going to be your new oceanic best friend. Especially if you have a bathtub.

And in the interest of complete disclosure: I consider Uberrime’s sole artist Marco a friend. This has not influenced my opinions, except perhaps to give me further appreciation for the artistry of silicone.
