I love sex toy companies that value aesthetic as well as function. While an ugly toy can still get the job done, it’s nice to enjoy how your toy feels and looks. Blush Novelties’ whole Avant line of dildos embodies this perfectly.
Two of the newest additions to the line are the petite-sized Vision of Love and Purple Haze dildos. Not only are these uniquely striped dildos beautiful, they’re budget friendly: Vision is (as of this writing) only $31 USD and Haze is $33 USD. When Peepshow Toys asked if I’d like to review them, I seal clapped in glee.

avant d16 purple haze and d15 vision of love design
The Purple Haze and Vision of Love dildos are made of silicone, which is body-safe. This means your toy won’t degrade (unless you use a silicone-based lube) and you can fully sanitize it. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of body-safe sex toys, Peepshow Toys has a thorough write-up.
The silicone has a powdery smooth surface. It’s not super squishy, but it’s springy when you squeeze it, and takes almost no effort to bend in half. Both toys have flexible suction cup bases.
Like the rest of the Avant line, these dildos have a striking multicolored design with crisp color transitions (a complicated feat considering the finicky nature of pouring silicone.) The Purple Haze and Vision of Love are (mostly) pastel, and feature two of my favorite shades of blue.
The Purple Haze is 1.3” wide (a bit slenderer than the average penis, 1.5”) and 7” tall. The toy has a prominent head, and its smooth shaft has a few raised vein details. I’ve technically reviewed this toy before: the Temptasia Reina is the same shape, although it’s made of slightly denser silicone.
Like the Reina, the Purple Haze has a single ball at the base, and a urethral.. dot.. on the head. I personally don’t like the whole uniball and pee dimple thing, but don’t let me kinkshame ya.
I’ve reviewed a dupe of the Vision of Love as well: the P3 Beauty from the Avant Pride collection. The Vision of Love is the same dimensions – 1.25” in diameter and 5.5” in length – as its Pride counterpart, but the silicone is a little softer. Vision of Love is more realistic than the Purple Haze, with an anatomically accurate head, and branching veins texturing the top side of its shaft.
our experience with the purple haze dildo
As I learned with the Temptasia Reina, 1.3” is too big for my body. Luckily my partner Buster is an enthusiastic stunt tester.
The Purple Haze Suction Cup Dildo has a sloped head with a tapered tip; it’s easy to insert, and the widest part of the head provides a mild but noticeable pop! of sensation when thrusted. This bulbousness is the only source of (really gentle) g-spot stimulation, because the gently sloped shaft bends with your body rather than angling itself against the g-spot. The dildo’s soft silicone, practically non-existent texturing, and snubbed tip made it easy to thrust, and it’s cushiony enough not to jolt your cervix unless it’s especially low and sensitive.
I was pissed off at the Temptasia Reina because its suction cup sucked. Blush Novelties must have realized the cup wasn’t great, because the suction cup on the Purple Haze dildo has a deeper inward curve. Because it’s also more pliable (since the silicone is less dense), the Purple Haze’s suction cup is strong, and stands up to some jostling when firmly applied to an appropriate surface.
It was easier to grip the toy’s uniball base rather than its suction cup to use it on my partner. Like the Reina, the Avant Purple Haze didn’t want to stay put in a harness unless we fit an undersized metal ring above the ball instead of beneath it. The flexible silicone ring in Blush’s Temptasia Harness Briefs wasn’t rigid enough to keep the uniball from popping free, causing the toy to fall out completely.
The Purple Haze’s relatively short length and flexible body would make it a so-so harness dildo anyway. It’s more likely to bend out of place when you’re thrusting by hip rather than hand, and you and your partner have to have relatively petite bodies to make the best use of its length. Even if you prefer your strap-ons short and plush, the weird way it has to be wrestled into a harness might defeat the purpose if your set-up can’t accommodate the extra base.
This dildo is best suited for folks looking for a slim, slightly squishy insertable that isn’t made for intense g/p-spot stimulation. Its average size makes it a great choice for people who are exploring penetration and can already take between two and three fingers.
our experience with the vision of love
Just like the P3 Beauty before it, the Vision of Love is just my size. Or at least the first half of the shaft is; stress has made my vaginismus worse, so I’ve had to take it easy with insertable toys. The Vision of Love gradually thickens to a full 1.25” (still thinner than the average penis, which is 1.5”), and my body isn’t willing to take the rest.
The small size of the Vision of Love will make it an appealing choice for exploring penetration as beginners, or for folks who simply want a small toy as a warm-up. Its wide suction cup base makes it anal safe, and its narrow tip makes it super easy to insert.
The Avant Vision of Love has a short, almost perfectly straight shaft. This means that unless you’re thrusting it at an angle, it provides no g/p-spot action. While it does have a defined head and veins, this texturing isn’t discernible to me in use. With a dollop of my favorite lube, the Vision of Love glides easy and velvety-soft.
Its smaller size makes it seem firmer to my hand than the Purple Haze, but the Vision of Love still feels softer than the P3 Beauty. It’s a little bendier, too, which is a double-edged sword: it’s more likely to bend rather than poke when thrusted at an angle, but it’s also harder to tilt it and zero in on your g/p-spot.
The suction cup base is great. This toy is a good choice if you’re after a decent suction cup or a small strap-on dildo. (As with the Avant Purple Haze, keep in mind how short this toy is – if you and/or your partner are plus size, it might be too stubby for harness use.) The cup is wide, thin, and flexible, which makes it fit securely in a harness and not put unwanted pressure on the wearer’s body. It provides strong suction on the right kind of surface, and tolerates a lot of tilting and tugging.
Looking for an extra pretty first time pegging dildo? This is it!
final thoughts on the avant purple haze and vision of love
I really can’t get over how cute these dildos are. I say this a lot, but genuinely attractive sex toys go a long way towards destigmatizing toy use. It’s hard to look these vibrant, artistically arranged colors and think “sex toys are gross.” These could double as sex positive desk décor, and in fact that’s what I’ve done with Vision of Love since I moved.
The Vision of Love and Purple Haze dildos are small, tamely shaped, and on the squishier side of medium-firm. Besides having a suction cup base, the only thing flashy about them is their colors. Blush Novelties knows that there are plenty of folks who want simple, budget-priced toys made of body-safe materials. They’re as happy to provide as I am to test.
