Review: RockHer Mini Scissoring Vibrator by Wet For Her

What’s a “couple’s vibrator”? Usually it’s something like the We-Vibe Chorus: a vibrator designed to compliment penis-in-vagina (PIV) sex. (The sex toy industry is pretty attentive to all things cishet, so there’s lots of ‘em.) But Wet for Her – a woman-run sex toy company catering to queer women – offer a different kind of couple’s vibrator:

One for scissoring.

A sex toy box laying on a bed with white sheets. The box says WET FOR HER and features a curved toy that's almost whale shaped: a bulbous bottom and a tail-like smaller arm. The toy and its remote are laying on the sheets.

The $75 USD RockHer Mini Scissoring Vibrator is an insertable, reversible vibe. You can insert the bulbous end vaginally, which positions the spreader arm to part your labia for easier clitoral access. Or you can anchor the RockHer the other way around (arm inside) so that you (and a scissoring partner) can both grind on the bulbous end.

To my recollection, there are only two other vibes intentionally designed for scissoring: the Enby Rechargeable from Wildflower and the ShiShi Union from NS Novelties.

Scissoring is a strangely contentious topic among queer folks with vulvas. Because of its prevalence in lesbian porn made for men, many queer women decry it as ‘fake’… But plenty of queer gals and trans people do it and enjoy it. My partner and I generally don’t, because it takes a lot of effort and I’m old and tired. But scissoring is definitely a thing.

Not tribbing inclined? The RockHer is still useful. It’s essentially a “rabbit” vibrator in a different shape. It stimulates the clit, and – if your anatomy lines up – the g-spot. And I probably could have gotten away with reviewing it on those merits alone. But when the opportunity to review the RockHer arrived, I knew I was gonna suck it up and get scissorin’. I don’t half-ass these things.

the wet for her rockher’s design

Wet For Her calls RockHer a “mini vibe”, and they ain’t kidding. It’s not even 3 inches long, and the bulb’s diameter is only 1.26 inches. For reference, the average insertable toy or penis is 1.5 inches. Most people with vulvas’ g-spot is located just a few inches in, so the insertable dimensions aren’t a determent unless you want a feeling of fullness.

Personally, I would love if the bulb was bigger, but that’s for scissoring reasons… and we’ll get to that later.

The RockHer is a firm toy. The spreader arm is juuuust flexible enough to bend with your body and not pinch while you wear it. The velvety-soft silicone finish gets linty, but the RockHer isn’t a lint magnet like the Ultra Bullet. And it’s easier to rinse clean.

The RockHer laying on white sheets with its remote leaning against it. The remote says ROCKHER WET FOR HER.

The RockHer has 10 settings: 3 steady levels and 7 patterns. Because the power button is often inconveniently nestled inside your vagina (it’s on the side of the bulb), the toy comes with a remote control too. The remote only has one button, which is a bummer. Give me a second button to go back a setting!

Not a fan of the RockHer’s pale purple? Sorry, friend – that’s the only color it comes in. (Hey, at least it’s not pink!)

how the rockher mini scissoring vibe fits my partner

People come in many shapes and sizes, and their genitals are no exception.

If I’m understanding Wet for Her’s marketing, the RockHer’s spreader arm was designed to encircle (enrectangle?) the clitoris. My partner’s dick (their label for their clitoris) doesn’t fit inside the rectangle. Instead, their dick perches right on top, leering over the frame like an owl on a fence. There’s a gentle swoop at the top of the spreader that cradles their dick, so it’s not painful, it’s just not exposed.

A white nonbinary person's fingers held behind the RockHer's smaller arm to demonstrate size. Their fingers are relatively large. There are some noticeable imperfections in the toy's silicone finish.

Speaking of exposed, I wasn’t sure how well the spreader would work on Buster’s labia. Their mons and outer labia are fat, and their inner labia is long and loves to party. But as long we’re careful to arrange everything so nothing gets pinched, the frame actually works.

Mostly.

The spreader frame is thin and tiny, so Buster’s thick labia tucks back over it. It’s a partial spreading that mostly just exposes their vestibule (the space beneath the clit and above the vagina, where the urethra is located.) Their dick – stranded above the frame – remains buried by their pubic mound. But honestly? The RockHer Mini Scissoring Vibrator works better than the handful of clamp-style toys we’ve tried for labia spreading, so I’ll take it. The spreader will work best if you’re petite, you have smaller/shorter labia, or your clitoris is closer to your vagina.

The RockHer propped up on its side by rumpled sheets.

So, how about when you flip the RockHer around and insert the arm instead? The bulbous end hugs tight against Buster’s outer labia. But even if we part their labia by hand first, the bulb doesn’t directly connect with Buster’s dick unless we’re simultaneously grinding on it. If you have an exposed clitoris or less fleshy labia, or if you don’t need your vibrations bang-on, this won’t be an issue.

the rockher mini scissoring vibe’s vibrations

A vibrator that’s meant to stimulate two people at once needs strong vibrations. And the RockHer Mini Scissoring Vibrator delivers power. The toy’s motor is located in the bulb; its hard, smooth-finished body carries vibrations pretty well. The vibrations do travel through the arm, but only with about 1/4th the strength.

The RockHer and its remote sprawled out on white sheets.

My issue is that the vibrations are almost pure buzz. I prefer vibrations to be rumbly, which means thuddy and deep-reaching. The RockHer’s vibrations, although strong, shiver on the surface of your skin and can be numbing or itchy to folks with sensitive vulvas. They’re less annoying when Buster’s wearing the bulb internally, or while scissoring because of the other friction involved. But just wearing the RockHer bulb side out? Not thumpy enough for me.

This, obviously, is a personal preference. Plenty of folks are keen on buzzy vibes! (Buster says the RockHer’s vibrations “aren’t terrible” – I agree – and have a little bit of rumble, so interpretation varies.)

The RockHer starts gentle-ish, like a buzzier version of the Noje Mini Wand’s lower levels. There’s a huge jump from the first and second setting. I’d say it’s somewhere in the same strength range as the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s first level. The third and final steady power setting isn’t even close to the MWR’s second setting.

The 7 patterns are exactly what you’d expect. Some blips, some ramp-ups, some gentle pulses.

actually scissoring with the rockher

Testing this toy for its intended purpose was a trip. God, I am so old for someone who’s only 30.

The easiest way for Buster and I to scissor is for one of us to lay on their back while the other squats over a thigh. Then we both kinda shimmy around until our vulvas are at a good angle. It works best with something under the laying partner’s hips. (This is where a Liberator wedge would be indispensable. Alas, we’re stuck with a squashed up pillow.) The RockHer Scissoring Vibe – when worn bulb out – actually makes this position a little easier, because we don’t have to be as precise.

The RockHer posed at an angle to show off the curve of its two parts and the ripple texture on its bulbous end.

(If the RockHer was larger, I’d like it even more. Our previous forays into scissoring were with the big head of a Magic Wand between us. There was a lot less whining about back pain the next day. But folks who are smaller than us and more flexible would probably find a larger toy too bulky for intimate junk rubbin’, so…)

When grinding from the top, I had to be careful not to push down too much or I’d shove the RockHer’s bulbous end weird and the spreader arm would jab in Buster’s vag. Buster said this was never painful, but the poke – and subsequent rhythm interruption – was distracting.

Our preferred use of the bulb out position wasn’t for scissoring at all. I love when Buster’s on top, so with ample lube to slick the way I had them mount my thigh. Having them squirm and grind on my thigh with the RockHer Scissoring Vibe was very hot.

The RockHer viewed at an angle to show the shape difference between the bulb and the smaller arm.

Spreader bar out is a little more complicated. The wrong grinding angle and rhythm makes it pinchy, especially since Buster’s dick isn’t inside the frame. We use it for oral sex and masturbation more than we ever did for scissoring or grinding. Buster loves being held open, and the frame stretches their dick up for easier rubbing and tugging. Though the vibrations are muffled and buzzy in the arm, having the spreader humming against the underside of Buster’s dick is unf.

If you have a shallow and sensitive g-spot, the RockHer’s bulb might connect. It wasn’t large or angled enough for Buster, who also prefers larger insertables for that full feeling. For them, having the bulb inside is more of an anchor and tease.

final thoughts on the rockher by wet for her

A cropped shot of the RockHer and its box sitting on the bed.

Wet for Her definitely designed the RockHer for smaller folks with vulvas. Its tiny size will better suit the scissoring shenanigans of people with smaller mons and slimmer outer labia. Its limitations with our bodies, and its buzziness, mean it likely won’t see much humping action in our house. I’ll probably utilize its spreader arm for oral sex purposes and chalk the rest up as an occasional novelty.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think the RockHer is worth recommending. If you trib regularly and don’t mind vibrations on the buzzy side, I think it’s worth splurging on. I haven’t tested its only competitors – the Wild Flower Enby and the ShiShi Union – so I can’t tell you if the RockHer is the “best” scissoring vibe. But its reversible use, powerful vibrations, and penetration-anchoring design make it more appealing for scissoring (to us) than the others.

If Wet for Her comes out with a second generation RockHer that’s larger, has rumbly vibrations, and doesn’t have the alienating product gendering… that would be something I’d regularly risk my back and knees for.

You can get the RockHer Mini Scissoring Vibrator with Remote directly from Wet For Her.
