Review: Small Splendid Dual Density Dildo by Uberrime

The Splendid (now called the Splendid Medium) is arguably Uberrime’s most popular toy, and for good reason: it’s a dual density dildo (stiffer core, softer outside) with a wonderfully effective g-spot and/or prostate targeting curve, dressed in inspiringly vibrant colors. And? It’s $80 (or $70 for solid colors), a pretty good deal for a hand-made, body safe silicone toy from an indie maker.

Last year, I wrote a glowing review of the Splendid. A few months later, Uberrime released two new, hand-sculpted versions of the Splendid: the Small, and the Large. Folks with average size preferences and size royalty rejoiced, and Peepshow Toys sent me the Small to review. (Thanks, Peeps!)

So let’s talk about the Small!

about the uberrime splendid small

The Small currently comes in four pastel pearl colors: blue, rose, violet, and green. I of course opted for the green! Although these are single color toys, they’re not flat; each color is swirled with glitter and gentle marbling for an artistic extra touch.

The Splendid Small’s 1.4-inch width (1.6 at the head) and 6-inch length don’t seem that far off from the Medium’s sizing on paper… but stand them side by side and the difference is substantial. The Medium is a more popular choice, but the Small sticks closer to the average girth of a human penis: 1.5 inches.

Like its predecessor, the Small has a squishy, prominent head. Its curved shaft has some vein texture, but it’s much subtler and doesn’t have any branching, which makes the Small a much sleeker fuck. Its base is chunky and wide, giving the Splendid Small a stable foundation for harness use. It doesn’t have a suction cup, but it will stick to flat surfaces because the base has a slight lip.

smooth and squishy silicone

The Splendid Small’s rigid core is flexible, so it’s pretty easy to bend the toy in half with your hand; however, it’s still firm enough to keep the toy’s shape intact in use, even with vigorous thrusting. That means the curve will actually stroke your g/p-spot (when properly angled for your body) instead of tilting/folding out of place.

I immediately loved the Splendid Small’s slimmer size because of how much squisher it seems. You can really feel the springyness of the silicone when you squeeze it! My biggest beef with the Splendid Medium is that it lacks the plushness of the Vixskin Mustang or the Neo Elite 7.5 Inch, but the Small – despite likely being made of the same density silicone – feels deliciously squeezeable.

Joyously, it’s also not as tacky on the surface as some other soft-layered dual density toys (like the aforementioned Vixskin Mustang.)

our experience with the uberrime splendid small

Earlier this month, I attended Sex Down South and spent some time selling toys at Uberrime’s booth. Every time I was asked about an average-sized toy for penetration (especially pegging), I directed folks towards the Splendid Small. Why? Because it’s a really comfortable dildo.

In use, the Splendid Small’s curve feels less intense than its larger counterpart, the Medium. Buster – my partner, who tests a majority of the penetration toys featured on this blog – isn’t too fussed about g-spot stimulation. The slightly straighter shaft means that they can comfortably thrust the Small however they want and it only plows their g-spot when they angle it intentionally… Then the head is a nice, persistent massage with every thrust. Versatility!

The head and divot beneath it create a pleasant ‘pop’ when dragged. This is the only extra stimulation that Buster noticed beyond the mild fullness of the average-width shaft, as the subtle compressed vein texturing on the toy’s surface isn’t really discernible in use. This ‘pop’ is especially pleasant during anal use, as the squishiness of the head buffers the toy’s impact and lets it pet sleekly and plushly.

Buster loves squishy, textured girth, so the Splendid Small isn’t their ideal dildo. But if you want something that’s intentionally average – both in size and in competent but not overwhelming g/p-spot stimulation – the Splendid Small is for you. It’s not a tentacle, a g-spot brutalizer, or a highly textured a-spotter; it’s the mild but splendidly satisfying staple that sits at the front of your bedside table drawer.

(Now, if you’re just trying to save $10-$20 by going with the Small over the Medium, I recommend just budgeting the extra and going with the Medium. It’s girthier, has some texturing, and its curve is more targeted – but it’s still a comfortable regular use dildo.)

final thoughts on the uberrime splendid small

The Splendid Small’s pastel pearl shades are a perfect match for its impact: soft, easy, and pleasant. If you’ve found yourself intimidated by texturing, above-average sizing, or hyper-realistic designs, the Splendid Small is a pretty alternative with a gently curved shaft that’s great for petting the right spots without being overpowering.

Its chunky base makes a decent handhold, but it’s even better for harness use. Because of the sturdy base and the dildo’s stiff core maintaining the toy’s shape, I highly recommend it for strap-on sex if the size suits your needs. The sleek, slightly matte surface becomes heavenly with water-based lube, and the head’s slight squish means it won’t be a battering ram no matter how excitable you get.
