Review: Zumio I Pinpoint Rechargeable Clitoral Stimulator by Zumio

The Zumio I posed to show its scoop tip, soft buttons, and hard plastic body. It has a peacock feather themed backdrop.

The Zumio I Clitoral Stimulator is teal. Teal! That alone was enough to make me want to review it. But I was also intrigued by the toy’s flat, spoon-like tip.

The original Zumio (now called the Zumio X to differentiate it from new models) is prized for its ultra-pinpoint tip. The Zumio I is still pinpoint (it’s tinier than a fingertip), but it has more surface area to transfer its unique rotation-based stimulation.

And oh, does it stimulate.

zumio i design and features

Zumio currently has 4 models: the intense X, the gentler S, the ultra-precise E, and the diffused I. The body of these toys are essentially identical, with a sleek plastic handle and silicone buttons. As far as I understand, the motors are all the same too. It’s the tip and stylus (neck) that varies.

The Zumio I’s stylus is shorter, making it feel a little less breakable than my Zumio X. It’s called a spoon in the marketing, but there’s not much of a concave to the Zumio I’s curved head. It’s more like a round spatula. Like the X, the I’s tip is made of hard plastic.

The Zumio’s stimulation comes from movement/friction, not vibration. The tip rapidly sways in tight circles (so tight you can barely see it move) to buzzingly stroke your skin. Because it’s literally rubbing you, I recommend using lube to keep things slick and smooth. Lube can get flung off the toy itself, so apply it directly to your clit (or nipple or dick or wherever.)

The Zumio I has a regular button (on/off) and an infinity symbol (top for increase, bottom for decrease.) They’re subtle – I sometimes struggle to feel them out by touch – but click really easily. Like other Zumio models, the Zumio I has 8 steady speeds and no patterns. As a profession patterns-hater, I was stoked. Especially after reviewing the Zalo Bess and its bombardment of settings.

But it’s not just speed you can vary. The Zumio’s tip is pressure responsive. Push down lightly and the stimulation stalls out into a gentler, almost throbbing sensation.

If you’re like me and recklessly toss your sex toys loose into drawers and backpacks, then you’ll be happy to know the Zumio I comes with a hard plastic cover for the tip (pictured in the outro of this review.) Not so reckless? Inside the actual packaging, there’s a sturdy cardboard case (with Zumio branding) that can double as permanent storage.

The Zumio I is less intense than the standard Zumio X. The flatter, wider tip softens the sharpness of its rotations. But it’s still the same powerful motor. It’s still an ultra-pinpoint sex toy.

Just like every other pinpoint sex toy, I have to spread my chubby labia to get the most out of this Zumio. I most often masturbate while sitting at my desk, and gravity has been a great collaborator: the head of my clit can be cradled by the Zumio I’s curved tip. It’s a delicious way to feel the full trembling force of the oscillations.

I also like using the non-spoon side of the spatula head, which subtly leans into my body. That limits the tip’s rotational movement and makes it less abrasive than the Zumio X. It’s not as sharp or buzzy-feeling, which I find more satisfying… but less intense.

If I want similar friction and intensity, I can use the very edge of the spoon. It’s not quite the same, but it’s close enough that I’m not digging out my Zumio X mid-wank.

The Zumio I’s tip is too big to comfortably fit under/inside my clitoral hood (one of my favorite ways to use the Zumio X.) But its larger size is much better for pressing against the base/root of my clit, which (at least for me) encourages stronger clitoral erections. (Yes, clits get hard too!)

I can’t press down as hard with the Zumio I on lower intensities. The motor gives up easier. (As an autistic person who struggles with discerning my own strength, this is… not ideal.) If I want to feel the more subdued, rippling sensation that comes from applying pressure with the tip, I have to loiter on high speeds and be mindful of my grip.

more on the user experience

The Zumio I’s tip provides more surface coverage, but that also means more surface friction. I find myself needing to reapply lube during longer sessions. I’ve also noticed that when lube is on the tip itself, the gyrations spin the drops around like a water bender. Strangely adorable, but not conducive to staying slick!

This toy has silicone components (which don’t play well with silicone lube), so I suggest a long-lasting water-based lube like Sliquid Sassy. You can still safely store it with other (legitimate) silicone toys.

Like the Zumio X and Noje Quiver, I can use the Zumio I for multiple orgasms. It just doesn’t sensitize me like vibrations do. My body isn’t multi-orgasmic so it doesn’t happen often, but it’s nice to finish a session throbbing but not numb.

An important note if you have housemates: this thing can be noisy. It emits a hissy, mechanical whining that varies in volume depending on how much you’re smothering it with pressure and/or flesh. It’s not as audible as a rattling wand vibrator, but it’s definitely not discreet.

The Zumio I’s charger is identical to the Zumio X’s (and could be mistaken for an electric toothbrush charger.) Plug the charger into a USB port or adapter, then pop the Zumio into the white plastic cup. A yellow light pulses until it’s done charging. Strangely, the charger heats up the longer it’s in use. This made me nervous at first, but I’m forgetful and have left it charging overnight on numerous occasions without an issue. Still, I really do not like when my electronics get hot.

final thoughts on the zumio i

Zumio (the company) made some wise minor tweaks (like adding a travel/storage cap) but largely left the Zumio’s innovative design alone. They didn’t set out to change or improve their namesake toy, just offer a diffused variation – and they succeeded.

A picture featuring the Zumio in its plastic cap and storage box.

The Zumio I is a good balance of “holy shit” and daily usability. (I still prefer the original Zumio when I’m in the mood for sheer intensity.) Its spoon tip isn’t much of a spoon, but it still cups my clit from certain angles, offering a broader but still ultra-pinpoint experience.

But though the Zumio I is diffused compared to the Zumio X, it’s not gentle. For a genuinely gentler pinpoint toy, I invite you to ogle the Zalo Bess. I have a whole pinpoint comparison guide describing power and size, but the Bess is my go-to recommendation for folks who want a lot less pin to their pinpoints.

You can find the Zumio I on SheVibe for $98 USD at the time of this review. SheVibe also carries the the intense X, the gentler S, and the ultra-precise E.

This hybrid pump/vibe is… unique. The Pipedream Roto Suck-Her is a vibrating, vulva-shaped pussy pump. But not really? Because of its shallow cup, it doesn’t have the room to function like a traditional pump. It’s more like a lightly vibratey, lightly sucky… thingy. Like others […]
