Review: Minima Small Silicone 3 Dildo Set by Uberrime

Penetration is intimidating and/or painful for many people. Inexperience, trauma, surgery, disability, curiosity, illness – there are countless reasons folks might want or need a small, comfortable insertable.

As someone with both vaginismus (haunted vagina) and IBS (haunted guts), I’m keenly aware of how few dildos fit the comfort trifecta:

  • Short (under 5 inches)
  • Slim (less than 1 inch diameter)
  • Soft (gentle and yielding)

To meet this need, indie dildo maker Uberrime designed a three dildo set called the Minima. They were originally created at the behest of someone recovering from a hysterectomy.

The Minima Dildos aren’t much wider than a finger. The longest Minima is about twice as tall as a finger. These dildos are essentially a softer take on single-digit fingering – which is exactly what some of us need.

Like all of Uberrime’s toys, the Minima are made of body-safe silicone. That means they’re non-porous (so they won’t harbor fluids or grow bacteria) and can be sanitized. Sanitizing them is important if you intend to use them in different holes (your own or others’.)

Silicone comes in different firmness. The Minima are medium density (they squish with force), but their small size makes them feel even softer. They wiggle when you jostle them and it’s really easy to fold them in half.

SheVibe carries the Minima Dildos in a rich “mermaid” blue. Uberrime has them in a couple of colors, including light blue (best color!), pink, and black. Mine are green, but they’re a one-off pour. Because Uberrime rarely does solid/flat color silicone (artists, amirite?), the Minima are swirled with darker tones and shimmering glitter. Their surface is sleek and textureless.

The Uberrime Minima don’t have individual names. They’re simply Model A, B, and C. They were created as a set, but you can purchase them separately on Uberrime’s site.

All three models have a flared base, so they’re anal safe. You can also technically use them in a harness, but their short stature and small base width would make it awfully tricky.

Minima A is both the thickest (its fat head is 1 inch in diameter) and shortest (4.75”) of the trio. The head is penis-esque, and its upturned shape gives the dildo a small, tight curve.

Minima B (which is 5.5 inches tall and 0.95” wide) has 3 distinct beads: the rounded head, and two smooth bulbs on the shaft. It reminds me of the Tantus Ripple Small, but the Ripple Small is taller and incredibly rigid.

Finally, Minima C! This Minima Dildo has a long curve and a bulbous head like the A. (Its head isn’t quite as wide as the A’s: 0.95” diameter vs A’s 1” diameter.) When bent straight, it stands at 6 inches tall.

my experience: vaginal use (with vaginismus)

The Minima 3 Dildo Set are not for folks looking for targeted g-spot stimulation or a texturally exciting experience. Their designs are intentionally ultra-mild, offering a gentle introduction (or reintroduction) to penetration.

a and b

That being said, the Minima are a little too gentle for my vagina. Their sizing is perfect – especially after ditching my dilator routine during quarantine – but the silicone is too soft for me. My vaginismus seizes up my pelvic floor and the Minima start folding over like a train hitting the side of a mountain.

Model B has the most success. It’s easier to feed it to my over-protective vag like anal beads: one bulb at a time. The beads also offer a subtle ripple of sensation when gently thrusted.

It’s okay that the Minima don’t work for me vaginally. I still have the Temptasia Twist Kit (which are more medium-firm), and I’m glad there are soft options for folks who need or prefer them. Even other folks with vaginismus who might prefer their dilators and mini insertables soft! If an actual finger is too firm, the Minima 3 Dildo Set is there for you.

Left to right: Avant Vision of Love, Temptasia Twist (medium), Minima C, Minima A, Temptasia Twist (small), Minima B. With a quarter for scale.

That being said, I wouldn’t expect much targeted g-spot or prostate stimulation from the Minima Dildo A or C’s heads. Their shafts yield against pressure. That means that – besides the angle of the heads themselves – there’s not much force behind the Minima Dildos, which is needed to provide g/p-spot massage.

my experience: anal use (with IBS)

Despite a lot of backdoor pain from IBS and related complications, my ass is actually way more receptive to penetration than my vagina. It also means that the set’s softness is a plus. My ass is tender and can’t tolerate any poking or pressure.

On the rare occasion where I feel like playing anally, the Minima 3 Dildo Set’s bendy silicone is exactly the right amount of cushioning. The silicone is just firm enough that the shafts mostly stay on course. (I usually have to hold it closer to the tip to properly guide it though.) Minima B’s straight head feels most natural to insert. A and C need to be inserted while tilted in a scooping motion, angling towards your stomach.

a and c

The Minima A and C offer a gentle, massaging drag from their heads. The A’s is more noticeable than the C’s, so if you’re looking to tease a prostate, the A is probably going to service you best. (I say tease because – unlike the firmer Temptasia Twist or the ultra firm Ripple Small – the Minima C isn’t going to nudge/push as persistently as a finger. That being said, if your prostate is hyper-sensitive and you prefer a gentler touch…)

Model B’s beaded shaft teases my entrance with subtle expanding, just like anal beads. There’s not quite enough narrow space after the last bead for my asshole to fully relax against the shaft. But I’m posteriorly blessed, so others may find it’s plenty of space.

None of the Uberrime Minima Dildo Set are wide enough in the shaft to serve as a butt plug, and they’re not meant to be. They’re short and squishy enough to be comfortable for a long session. But unless you’re sitting on them (isn’t work from home great?), they’ll easily slide free without a hand holding them in place.

final thoughts on the minima set

The Uberrime Minima Dildo Set were made for a very specific niche of dildo users. They’re a rare example of the comfort trifecta – short, slim, and soft – yet unlike many miniature dildos, they’re poured with the same visual pizazz as any of Uberrime’s other gorgeous toys. It feels affirming to have some attractive options.

Personally, the only Minima dildo I’ll use regularly is the B, because it offers more stimulation/variation. One day I hope to see more texturally complex designs in this same avenue. My holes crave more intricate finger(-sized) foods… A massively downsized Uberrime Helios or Teuthida, perhaps? An enby can dream!

The Minima 3 Dildo Set can be found on SheVibe or Uberrime’s own shop. If you’re not sure if the Minima trio is right for you, you can browse SheVibe’s silicone dildos by size.

Thank you, Uberrime, for providing the Minima Dildo Set in exchange for an honest review. I consider Marco (Uberrime’s founder) a friend, but that doesn’t influence my opinions of their toys except to give me additional insight and appreciation for the artistry.
