Review: Dix the Destroyer Silicone Dildo by Geeky Sex Toys

Geeky Sex Toys is an indie sex toy shop that designs and manufactures fandom fuckables, from LED Laser Sword Dildos to a D20 Silicone Ball Gag. Though based in Australia, Geeky Sex Toys ships worldwide – and they go to great lengths to make sure their toys get to your mailbox in a timely manner.

Back in January, I reached out to ask if I could review one of their toys. My initial choice was Möan-lnir (a dildo based on Thor’s hammer), but a few things got in the way, and I gladly chose Dix the Destroyer as an alternative.

There are two types of dildos in the universe: those who fuck, and those who do not.

Dix the Destroyer fucks.

Dix is, of course, based on Drax of Guardians of the Galaxy infamy. It’s big, textured, and as visually striking as Dave Bautista in full set makeup. Other toys in the Orgasms of the Galaxy collection include Star-Load (a g-spot vibrator), Root (a hard, smooth bark-textured dildo), Cumora (a green fuck sleeve), and Randy the Raccoon (a fluffy-tailed butt plug.) But Dix? Definitely my favorite. It’s a goddamn glorious toy.

a closer look at dix the destroyer’s design

Dix is as intimidating as its revenge-seeking, galaxy-guarding inspiration. It’s 7 inches tall and over 2 inches thick – well above average – and its girth is wrapped with ropey, textured designs. It has a fat, realistic head, and a comparatively modest pair of balls etched with matching texturing. It’s not harness compatible, and does not have a suction cup.

Wisely, Geeky Sex Toys decided to create this behemoth in A-00 soft shore silicone. This means that Dix is deliciously bendable and squishy and its surface patterns rub your insides rather than scrape. But if you’re afraid of flop, worry not: Dix the Destroyer is hefty enough to stand upright on its own, and retains its shape in use. It’s simply too girthy to to bunch up or fold when being thrusted.

The texturing on Dix is gnarly and awesome. There are two haunting skulls on one side that definitely steal the show, but the rest is captivating in its own right, with ribbed crisscrossing, branch-like ripples, and the occasional swirl of scarified flesh. The level of intricacy is amazing, and perfectly suits the source material. There are a couple of odd dips and notches caused by the mold (which I believe is 3D printed), but I only notice them because I’m a details hawk.

Contrastly, the dildo’s head is untouched by these ritualistic markings, and instead features delicate skin lines and a very pronounced ridge. Not gonna lie, the head is erotically mouthable. I suck on this thing for fun.

Geeky Sex Toys chose a bright, light blue as an undertone to the ruddy orange-brown of Dix’s primary color. These dildos are handmade, and because silicone is a finicky substance that fluctuates as randomly as my gender, the colors bleed/pool differently every time. On my particular Dix the Destroyer, the rust color is somewhat overpowered by the blue, and I don’t find the results as visually enticing as the site model. But it’s still sexy!

experiencing drax’s engorged nether regions

Dix the Destroyer is not a beginner’s toy. It’s much fatter than the average penis, and its girth doesn’t fluctuate: it’s thick from the tip to the base. My partner enjoys it vaginally, but only with some warm-up (usually with a slimmer toy) and a good dollop of Sliquid Sassy. “It’s big, I definitely feel like I can’t get away from it because it’s so filling,” Buster explained when I asked them why Dix is one of their favorite toys, especially for rough sex.

The head is smooth and provides a pleasing pop of sensation when being pushed in or while thrusting. Buster says the texturing on the shaft is mostly imperceptible to them in use because of how exquisitely, distractingly stretched their cunt is. It does, however, create an almost suction-like drag during thrusting – not painful, but powerfully stimulating.

“It’s nice being still and clenching around it or grinding, but my brain always goes back to wanting to be plowed by it,” Buster described, “It’s so big and wedged in, once you’re adjusted you just want it to keep moving.”

Dix isn’t hooked or curved like a lot of g/p-spot dildos, but its width means it’s pressed against every internal surface. Buster definitely feels the benefits of this indirect approach to g-spot stimulation. They rarely squirt, but Dix can sometimes milk it out of them by sheer force, resulting in a post-sex gush of extra come –

Ahem.

Dix the Destroyer isn’t just my partner’s favorite toy for rough sex; it’s mine, too. That’s partly because I love Drax so much (his perception and mannerisms, while written as just ~weird alien shit~, are pretty autistic!) and partly because Dix is the kind of dildo that can leave your lover sore for days. Even when my wrist goes wonky and I can thrust as hard as I’d like, Dix’s sheer dimensions do a lot of the work for me.

Buster also enjoys rubbing off on the texturing, because the bumps and whorls are soft and squishy. Dragging the shaft over their labia feels fantastic, especially when it’s slick with lube. This is a pretty delicious way to warm up to using Dix the Destroyer, because they can hold its big shaft and be reminded of what they’re getting into. (You could rub it on your nipples, too, I guess, if you’ve got that level of sensitivity in common with Drax.)

not quite hooked on the feeling

One huge drawback in using Dix the Destroyer is the lack of definitive handhold. Because it’s designed to sit at an angle (probably to compensate for its weight and flexibility), its base is completely flat. I can’t fault a toy for not being designed for harness use (though it is a shame!) but I do wish more consideration had been put into how it would be held while thrusted. Some of us refuse to just set it and forget it!

When using Dix on my partner, I initially held the balls – but I quickly discovered that in doing so, I was putting additional strain on the delicate-surfaced silicone where the shaft and balls meet. Micro tears were forming from the strain. I now just hold my palm flat against the base, but there’s no way to completely avoid stressing the tears: when Dix is inside my partner, the angled balls are pushed backwards, stretching that silicone.

Micro tears also happen in the subtle divot between the head at the shaft, and on the rim of the toy’s base.

I asked another dildo craftsman about micro tears, and he told me that they don’t compromise the safety of the toy… but they’ll likely keep tearing, and you’ll have to be mindful of crevices when cleaning. The tiny fissures on mine are just on the surface, and haven’t had any impact on using Dix. But if you’re very particular about the hardiness of your dildos, you might want to peruse Geeky Sex Toys’ less angled designs.

care and cleaning of your guardian

Dix the Destroyer is made of body-safe silicone. Because it’s made out of actual silicone, it can be stored with other silicone toys (not toxic and/or porous crap like jelly, TPE, or PVC) but it cannot be used with most silicone lubes. Coconut oil or water-based lubes (like the aforementioned Sliquid Sassy) are your best bet!

Cleaning Dix is not the nightmare one would assume from its branchy, dimpled surface. It’s easiest immediately after use – you know, before come gets flakey – but if you toss it aside until morning, letting it soak in the sink for a few minutes can help. It can be washed with most face-safe soaps (like the handsoap already in your bathroom, or your dish detergent) or a toy cleaner.

Work the soap into a lather, rubbing your fingertips over every ridge and ripple. Make sure you get those tear-prone areas just beneath the head and where the shaft meets the balls. I like to rinse it with really hot water to make sure it gets thoroughly cleaned.

You can also toss it into the top rack of your dish washer!

final thoughts: am i hooked on a feeling?

🎶 I can’t stop this feeling
Deep inside of me
Dix, you just don’t realize
What you do to me  🎶

Dix the Destroyer is a hefty dildo that’s more than capable of pulverizing one’s chosen orifice – in the good way. It has its flaws, but none of them prevent me from enjoying this toy, nor do I find them to be at odds with its $79 USD price tag.

[Description: Dix standing upright, shrouded in shadows.]
Dix is big, squishy, wickedly textured, and so fucking unique I still can’t quite fathom that it’s here on my table. I’ve spent my entire adult life participating in fandom, and I never thought I’d one day be working with a shop that makes body-safe sex toys based on the same franchises that occupy my long boxes, DVD shelf, and AO3 bookmarks.

Geeky Sex Toys doesn’t just serve the geek community, it serves it well, and with shared enthusiasm (the Makers are nerds themselves.) Dix made it across the globe in plain, discreet packaging, and even came with a care sheet for first time buyers. Considering that it was made by hand, the time between my “order” and its arrival was brief – if there’s something you have your eye on, a few short weeks is all that stands between you and the sexy LARPing of your daydreams.
