Review: Temptasia Advanced Pussy Pump System by Blush Novelties

When given the chance to pick something from SheVibe’s extensive inventory of pleasurable goodies to review, I knew exactly what to ask for: the Temptasia Advanced Pussy Pump System.

For my birthday last year, my partner and I bought the Temptasia Clitoris & Nipple Pleasure & Enhancement System (what a mouthful, eh?) and we loved it. Pumping had always been something we were interested in, but Blush Novelties’ Temptasia line was our first committed adventure.

But Buster wanted more. They wanted the full vulva-enveloping experience of pussy pumping.

The Temptasia Pussy Pump propped up on a windowsill alongside its box. The window glass is textured for privacy. The pump consists of a large, black plastic handle and a translucent cup attached to a thin red tube. The box features a woman in her undies posed with legs spread.

Despite the name, there’s no need to be an “advanced” vulva pump user. The Temptasia Pussy Pump was our very first! I believe the name refers to the style of handle; there’s a cheaper vulva pump – the Temptasia Intense System – but I prefer the look of the Advanced’s handle.

I do not prefer the look of the Temptasia Pumps’ packaging. I think it’s past time we stop using the faceless, objectified bodies of thin white women to sell products. And I know Blush can do better, their boxes are usually great!

what is a pussy pump and how does it work?

“Pussy” pumps are suction devices that are placed against the outer labia. The suction increases blood flow (which can create or help maintain arousal), evokes interesting sensations, and creates temporary swelling and heightened sensitivity. For a longer explanation, see my guide: Nipple and Vulva Pumping with (Manual) Temptasia Pumps.

The Temptasia Advanced Pussy Pump and Temptasia Intense Pussy Pump are manual pumps: each time you squeeze the handle, you tighten the suction on the user’s vulva. Because the pump is two pieces – the pump itself, and the cup that fits over your vulva – you can detach the cup and continue wearing it.

temptasia pussy pump function and design

The Temptasia Advanced Pussy Pump System has an 8 inch pump handle. The finger grooves on the grip make it easier to hold, but it’s still pretty big – even for my fat mitts. There’s one large lever to control the suction, and a tinier lever that immediately releases the suction. (This is key for us, as nervous newbies.) The tubing is durable silicone that is flexible but not floppy, and it holds its shape during pumping. No creases and no clogs!

A close-up of a white person holding the pump handle. They're pressing down on the long trigger, which will initiate a pull of suction.

At the base of the tubing, there’s a white plastic nozzle that can be clicked into the vulva cup’s receiving nozzle. This click is the metal tab sliding into place, and it should be audible; if it’s not, the pump isn’t sealed and won’t hold suction. To remove the cup, press the flat side of the metal tab until the tube’s nozzle pops free again.

It’s relatively easy to attach/detach the tubing, but keep in mind these nozzles are small and built to budget. There’s some finickiness now and then with the tube needing to be wiggled free or the tab being hard to push.

The vulva cup tilted on its side, with the pump's tubing still attached. There's a spring-loaded metal tab visible where the nozzles are joined.

If you’re detaching while the cup is still suctioned in place, it’s easiest to hold the cup to keep it stable while you wiggle the detached tube free. To take the cup off your body, press and hold the tab, and gently rock the cup or slip a finger under its lip to break the seal and pry it off.

temptasia pussy pump acrylic hood

The Temptasia Pussy Pump’s “hood” – which is what Blush Novelties has christened the see-through acrylic cup – has a subtle curve to its opening to help it fit against your anatomy. (We didn’t really get to enjoy the visuals, because the acrylic always fogged up during use.) Like the Temptasia Clit & Nipple System’s cylinders, the hood has a flattened trim to its opening to prevent it from digging into your skin. Which is good, because the hood will probably only cover part of your vulva unless you’re pretty small.

It’s much trickier to get the pussy pump’s cup to adhere to the body than the clit/nipple ones. During a class at Fairvilla, DooLittle emphasized not worrying about the fit; just hold the hood in place and start pumping. If it’s a struggle to get a seal, try lining the rim with lube.

I wasn’t surprised at how thick and robust the acrylic was because I’ve had the Clit & Nipple System since last year, but seriously: this cup is made to last. It can definitely take a tumble to the floor or a haphazard toss into your toy bin (and I have firsthand experience with both.)

experiencing pussy pumping

It’s important to note that all bodies are different, so the fit and sensations you get from the Temptasia Pussy Pump will be specific to you. For comparison, my outer labia are plump and I keep them clean-shaven, and my mons pubis (pubic mound) is fat, round, and protruding. My junk is pretty sensitive, and I actually don’t usually like my vulva to be touched.

On my body, the hood works best positioned just above my clit and just past my vaginal opening (both of which are fully enveloped by my labia.) This distance varies from body to body, I just got lucky!

The suction sensation is weird and intense, like a particularly large mouth sucking at the skin. Though it depends on how I’m feeling, I generally prefer slow draws on the pump over rapid ones, with lots of breaks to adjust to the pressure so it doesn’t hurt.

And the two occasions where the suction was abruptly too much, we were able to use the small release trigger to break the seal. Having that option made me so much more comfortable trying it out.

A close-up of someone's finger on the pump handle's smaller lever.

My favorite aspect of using the pump is detaching the hood and leaving it on for awhile. Buster will drum their nails on the sides, and it reverberates internally in a way that’s indescribable. It almost feels like they’re somehow tapping on my g-spot?? Because of my vaginismus, I’ve never felt acute g-spot stimulation before, but that’s how my brain makes sense of the sensation.

I… like it. I really, really like it. There’s the kinky element of my body being temporarily manipulated, all soft and puffy. There’s the squirming feeling of denial, since both my clit and cunt are obstructed. There’s the intense, all-over pleasure of having a vibrator held against the acrylic. It’s touchless stimulation, and it’s tortuously good.

I’m not interested in pumping enough to get sustained swelling, so I can’t account for how difficult it may be to get to that point with this pump (or the similar Temptasia Intense Pussy Pump.) Whenever I remove the cup, it only takes a few seconds for the puffiness to go away, but the heightened sensitivity remains.

not experiencing pussy pumping

As I said in the beginning of this review, the intended target of this pump was my partner. They enjoy having their labia played with, and the idea of encasing it in suction was a big turn-on conceptually.

But I wasn’t kidding when I said that all bodies are different, and your experience with pumps will vary. For my partner, sensations weren’t the issue: the fit was.

Though Buster is also fat, their outer labia are much thinner than mine, and recede into their body almost completely just beneath their cunt. They have thick pubic hair, especially on their labia and chubby-but-flat pubic mound.

Unfortunately, the Temptasia Pussy Pump doesn’t work for my partner at all. We can’t get it to suction against any part of their vulva. I suspect this is because of their sloped, receding outer labia, which don’t provide enough surface for the hood to hold. It’s also exacerbated by the truly glorious bush Buster’s had the past few months; dense hair makes it a little harder to press the acrylic cup flatly, and it renders the lube trick mostly useless.

final thoughts on the temptasia pussy pump

I’ve passed over dozens of cheap, flimsy pumps with an abundance of disappointed reviews, too cautious with my money to take the risk. So I’m startled by how sturdy and effective the Temptasia Advanced systems are. They’re affordable – this one is under $50 USD – but they’re not cheap. And that’s why I love Blush Novelties so much: most of what they make these days is financially accessible and well-made.

Am I bummed the pump doesn’t work on my partner? Yeah. We’ll have to keep looking for a system that works with their body. But it’s introduced me to delightfully weird sensations – and toe-curling tortures – that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. I don’t regret asking to review it at all, and I’m thrilled to have it as part of my toy roster.

I do wish I could manage to get a flawless seal that didn’t allow for the acrylic to fog up with air flow and body heat in use. I think we’d both enjoy a fully unobstructed view of my vulva swelling further with every slow pull on the pump, or pulsing with every short, tight pull. I think this, like everything else about pumping, will vary from body to body.

So do I recommend the Temptasia Advanced Pussy Pump or Temptasia Intense Pussy Pump to those curious about vulva pumping? I do. But my recommendation comes with a caveat: if you have especially thin or receding outer labia and/or very dense pubic hair, it may not be for you. If you want a surer bet, whip out a fabric tape measure and see if you’ve got at least four inches of outer labia that the hood can hold length-wise… or a petite enough vulva that the cup can envelope you.

Thank you to the superheros at SheVibe for dropping the Temptasia Pussy Pump in my lap for a lapfull of new experiences.

  1. it’s most likely because of their hair that the pump doesn’t work for your partner. the less hair, the better pussy pumps work. a lot of hair under the rim of the cup creates small channels for air to get in.
