Jan. Sex Toy Roundup: Review Queue, Monthly Favorites, and What’s New

A new year, a new style of monthly wrap-up post! This one is all about sex toys: the ones I’m reviewing, the ones I’m using, and the ones I’ve spied popping up on the digital shelves of my favorite pleasure product shops.

If you have any questions about the toys I’ve discussed, feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me on Twitter.

(I’m on a time crunch so the photos featured here are taken from affiliates, each sourced with love.)

In the Review Queue

A summary of all the pleasure products I’ve received, tested, or started writing a review for in the month of January.

BACKLOG

I have three reviews currently waiting for final touches or photos: the Nu Sensuelle Baelii (sent to me by Peepshow Toys), the Noje G-Slim (sent to me by Blush Novelties), and the Temptasia Clit and Nipple Pump (purchased myself.) The Baelii and G-Slim have been in my drafts for so long it’s humiliating.

In my pitiful defense, I misplaced the G-Slim in my (assumed empty) overnight bag for several months. Because I’m a mess!

AFFILIATES

This month, SheVibe sent me a total of six (six!) toys to review this quarter:

Tantus sent me a They/Them Dildo (which I have a lot of feelings about) right after the toy was released. The density has since been changed, so Tantus offered to send me the new version so my upcoming review could better reflect its current model. (Spoilers: still love it!)

INDIES & OTHERS

Earlier in the month, I was contacted by Talisman Leather, a studio in New Orleans that makes beautiful one of a kind leather pieces. They’d been forwarded my forlorn tweets about being miserable without a functional harness by a friend, and offered me one in exchange for an honest review. After tailoring it specifically for my size, they mailed it to me this week – and while I haven’t used it yet (except for peacocking around the house), I’ve spent the last two days marveling at its sensually soft, pleasingly fragrant leather. It’s sex manifested in leather and silver hardware.

January Sex Toy Favorites and Failures

Sex toys and and pleasure products my partner and I have been using, loving, and loathing.

THE FAVORITES

❤ My favorite masturbation toy has been the We-Vibe Tango, which I recently acquired in a giveaway. Now that I’m intimately familiar with why the Tango is beloved by bloggers (spoilers: it’s the exquisite vibrations), it’s been difficult to put it down long enough to test other toys. And I’m not even a huge fan of bullets!

❤ I won’t be coy: the Uberrime Aqua King is my new favorite dildo to fuck Buster with. It’s large and squishy, which means it suits Buster, and the bumps beneath the head pop over Buster’s pubic bone with mercilessly pleasing pressure. Its base is thick enough to compensate for the dildo’s size and heft, keeping it sturdy when situated in a harness.

❤ I’ve finally started using the XR Brands Silicone Dog Bone Gag that Buster bought me last year, and oh boy do I love this thing! The silicone is firm-ish (softer than most gags I’ve owned but appropriately stiff for a dog toy) and pleasing to chew. And with its non-pinchy strap/ring design and 1-inch diameter, it fits comfortably in my mouth for lengthy sessions and vigorous noming.

❤ During Black Friday, we bought two all-black, soft density toys from Lust Arts. I’ve found that my Unicorn Horn is a little too soft for me (and no one is more surprised than I am), but Buster has been more than thrilled with their Pounder-sized Lust Burster. Thrilled enough that they’ll be writing a review of it themselves as a guest post!

THE FAILURES

💔 Buster has wanted to love the Womanizer Liberty because they love air pulse toys, but it’s disappointed them with its inconsistent power and an imperfect fit despite having two nozzle sizes. Every time we’ve tried to incorporate it into sex, we’ve had to give up and use our trusted Satisfyer Pro Traveler to actually get the job done.

New Toys in Town

What’s new in the world of sex toys, or what’s been recently added to my favorite shops?

❤ Lust Arts released their much-anticipated fifth toy, the Mosswood Dragon! I love fantasy toys modeled after creature faces (I’m the kind of monster-loving filth who likes the idea of a sentient beast nuzzling its muzzle all up in my junk, don’t judge) and the artists over at LA created an absolutely gorgeous piece.

❤ Not exactly new, but Zumio came out with an “S” model that has a softer tip. Just like the original, the Zumio S is an ultra pinpoint oscillation toy – meaning its tip jutters rapidly as opposed to vibrating. I’m intimidated by the original Zumio, so my interest is piqued by this less intense counterpart.

❤ I bought a Palm Power Rechargeable Wand during Peepshow Toys’ awesome Black Friday sale, and now they’re carrying a teeny tiny pocket version! I need it in my hands yesterday. (In fact, give me all the baby wands. I love them so much.)

💔 Satisfyer released a bunch of handled vibrators that look suspiciously similar to Fun Factory’s colorful, creative designs. Satisfyer has been accused of design theft in the past (their toys were/are considered Womanizer knockoffs by bloggers, but recently rumors surfaced that both companies purchased the tech from someone else) but this is next level:

❤ Geeky Sex Toys came out with a limited run of the AquaMoan, a limited edition dildo themed around everybody’s favorite fish man. It’s damn cute, and there’s less than 100 left, so if girthy dildos on the firmer side are in your lighthouse, the clock is ticking!

❤ Both SheVibe and Peepshow Toys stocked up on toys from Zalo, who make beautiful and high femme styled toys that look like Sailor Moon weapons and tea time accessories. I read founder Fred Chang’s interview in Xbiz and while I don’t wholly agree with his sentiments, I know folks who want less garish sex toys and love the dainty aesthetic Zalo’s going for.

So what are you playing with lately, pleasure positive pals? Which of my upcoming reviews are you the most eager to read?
