Review: Bendy Beads by Fun Factory

My partner Buster and I have a whole bucket of butt toys, but surprisingly few anal beads. When HoneysX reached out about doing a review, I picked the Fun Factory Bendy Beads to remedy this shortcoming.

Anal beads are a little different than anal plugs. Plugs are primarily made to be worn. Beads are designed to maximize pleasure during insertion and removal. Your sphincter (the muscle that closes your asshole) relaxes to accommodate a bead, before tightening up again. When you’re moving multiple beads, you’re massaging the sensitive nerves in your rim and teasing that muscle.

I love beads because they help you practice relaxing your asshole for penetration. They’re a great way to work up to a plug, or just explore anal stimulation in general.

I’d personally classify these beads as beginner friendly. There are 5 beads total, with the smallest being the size of a fingertip. The largest bead is about 1.3 inches in diameter, which (depending on your hand size) is around two fingers thick.

The Fun Factory Bendy Beads are one solid piece of body-safe silicone. Most anal beads have more of a gap between them, but the Bendy Beads are grouped together for a continuous wave of shapes. This means your asshole won’t have much relaxation between beads.

Rather than a traditional flared base, the Bendy Beads have a looped handle. Normally I’d advise against handles. But the Bendy Beads looped grip is rigid and wide enough that it won’t be accidentally sucked into your butt by your sphincter. (And yes – that can happen to anal toys with insufficient bases!)

HoneysX carries the Bendy Beads in black and red.

our experience with the beads

My partner Buster is the butt toy aficionado in this house, so they did the testing for this review.

The Fun Factory Bendy Beads are firm. You can’t squeeze or squish them at all. This is good news for a butt toy, because firm toys are easier to push past the sphincter. That being said, the Bendy Beads are 10 inches long, and can bend between the bulbs. It’s much easier to hold each bead to feed it into your body than try to hold the toy by the handle.

There is a single ridge weaving over the beads, but besides a hint of extra pressure when you’re first pushing in a bead, this texture isn’t noticeable in use. The toy surface itself is matte. It carries lube pretty well.

There’s also a subtle seam from when the toy was manufactured. You can’t feel it in use, but there was some extra silicone on the indent between beads that I had to pick off.

The Bendy Beads aren’t really designed to take long rests between beads. Because there’s not much space between them, your sphincter can’t fully relax until the last bead. If you’re using the Bendy Beads to gently move/thrust, or you intend to push them all the way in like a plug, that’s not really a problem. The increase in size from bead to bead feels very natural.

The handle was surprisingly comfortable between Buster’s cheeks when they left the beads in place. (Their asshole couldn’t totally relax, but it wasn’t an uncomfortable strain either.) The Fun Factory Bendy Beads wouldn’t work as a long wear plug for most people, but it was an unobtrusive addition to having oral or vaginal sex.

I think our biggest complaint about these beads is the minor inconvenience of cleaning them. Because they’re long, thin, and have concave ridges, they definitely collect mess if you’re not the kind of person who cleans out before anal. It’s silicone so it’s easy to clean, but keep that in mind if you’re squicked by washing off messy toys.

final thoughts on the beads

The Fun Factory Bendy Beads are a very basic, beginner-friendly compromise between anal beads and a small anal dildo. If you’re looking for anal beads specifically, I don’t think I’d recommend them, as they lack the comfort and versatility of traditional beads. But if you’re just after a rippling, slow thrusting massage for your asshole, these might be it.

You can get the Bendy Beads from HoneysX for $34 USD at the time of this posting.
