I like to say that we’re not big fans of the g-spot in this house. My partner isn’t particularly wowed by g-spot stimulation, and because I experience so much pain during penetration, I usually don’t feel things acutely enough to discern if I’m even doing it ‘right’.

So naturally this review is for a g-spot vibrator!

The Noje G Slim – sent to me by Blush Novelties – is a not-so-slim rechargeable g-spot vibrator made of hard ABS plastic. It’s over 8 inches long and its bulb is 1.5 inches wide, significantly larger than what I was expecting based on pictures alone. It’s also functionally waterproof, unless you’re planning on using it under water for more than half an hour or deeper than three feet. (Sorry, kinky snorkelers!)

Now, it would be cool to say that the Noje G Slim changed our feelings about our g-spots – but it didn’t. But that’s okay! No type of pleasure is paramount to one’s sexual experiences, not even orgasm itself. And sex toys are generally multi-use, especially vibrators. So while I wasn’t super interested in the G Slim’s g-spotting capabilities (which we did test and do discuss in this review!), I was interested in its potential as a clitoral vibrator.

And I’m happy to report that definitely delivers on that front.

The Noje G Slim has ten vibration settings: five steady power levels, and five patterns. It’s not a super loud toy, but it has a noisy whirr that’s definitely audible through a door. Turning the G Slim off requires holding the button for a few seconds, so if you’re in need of either a quiet toy or one that can be immediately silenced, you’ll need to look elsewhere!

Like the Noje Mini Wand, the G Slim produces admirably strong vibrations for a budget vibe. The first steady setting has some muscle to it; it’s not clit-wilting like another recent Blush Novelties offering, the Exposed Nocturnal, but I wouldn’t describe it as gentle. And from there, the G Slim’s vibrations only get stronger. At their peak they can match the power of the lowest settings of the Magic Wand Rechargeable (albeit with smaller reach), which – while likely not pelvis-pummeling enough for power royalty – is plenty of punch for me.

The vibrations are mostly rumbly, which means the motor is thumpier and its vibrations work past the surface to better stimulate your erogenous zones. There’s definite buzz to the highest steady settings, but that’s pretty standard for rumbly vibrators outside of luxury pricing.

A frequent complaint about the G Slim’s fellow Noje vibrator, the Mini Wand, is that its flexible neck diffused the real strength of its vibrations since you couldn’t apply much pressure. The G Slim is a stick of plastic, so you can be much firmer in your application. But because of its hard shell – which seems partially hallow in the bulbous end – the vibrations do feel a little… distant. The motor isn’t as close to the surface, perhaps. But I only notice this when I’m really mashing it against my junk. (The hard plastic also means the vibrations travel through the handle too, which can be irritating to sensitive joints.)

The five available patterns are… patterns. There’s the usual ramp-ups and pulse-y bzzt’s, as unappealing to me as almost every other vibrator pattern assortment I’ve encountered. This is just personal preference, though! Some folks love them for a less intense build-up. I’m just thrilled Blush didn’t bloat the G Slim’s settings with so many patterns that even patterns lovers would be put off because there’s too many to click through.

The best g-spot vibrator in our collection is the Sola Cue, which costs twice the price of the G Slim ($70ish USD vs $35ish USD) and has an intuitively curved shaft that fits Buster’s internal anatomy almost perfectly. (Like anything involving anatomy, this is luck of the draw.) The G Slim lacks a curve, and instead relies on an egg-shaped bulb to direct the toy’s pleasing rumbles to the right place. For the first month of use, Buster hated this design choice. It lacked the intuition and ease of use of the Sola Cue’s curve, and just sort of butted Buster’s vaginal wall as they futilely thrusted.

During a presentation at Fairvilla back in September, Blush rep and author Ducky DooLittle talked about using the G Slim more like a lever than a thrusting tool, and that definitely suits the toy best. The bulbed end is girthy enough that as long as you’re in the general vicinity, some lever-like action with the handle will work the urethral sponge with the G Slim’s rumbles, it just won’t have the same aggressive and exacting impact as curved toys like the Cue.

Even using this new technique, Buster just wasn’t into it. It takes more work and a better mastery of your body’s anatomy, which isn’t worth the trouble for someone who isn’t keen on g-spot stimulation in the first place.

If you’re new to g-spot stimulation and don’t even know where to begin, the G Slim Rechargeable G-Spot Vibrator isn’t a bad option for experimenting with depth and angle as you suss out what feels best. But I wouldn’t necessarily call it first time finder friendly… unless you’ve had frustrating experiences with curved toys in the past and are eyeing the G Slim because of its straight-shafted shape.

plus and minus, pro and con

There are a couple of pros-with-cons I want to mention, including the Noje G Slim’s buttons, charging, and tendency to heat up in use.

Unlike so many other affordable vibrators out there – even its own sibling, the Noje Mini Wand – the G Slim has not one but two buttons with which to click through its ten settings. This means if you want to go back one or two settings (perhaps to enjoy the afterglow with some milder vibrations), you don’t have to cycle through the whole list. Turning the Noje G Slim on requires a short press and hold of the plus button, and turning it off calls for the same of the minus button.

Unfortunately, the buttons are pretty tiny, so they’re hard to find and press without looking, especially given how strongly the vibrations travel into the handle. I usually have to stop what I’m doing, stick it in my face, and then click the buttons. Luckily the light in the base isn’t nearly as bright as the Mini Wand’s.

(Still, two tiny buttons are vastly superior to one large one.)

Between the buttons are two minuscule magnetic dots. These connect to the G Slim’s charger, which is USB and thus can be used with a computer or a USB/AC adapter (just like most phones.) Like the Nocturnal Exposed, the shape of the magnetic points are weirdly ill-suited for each other, but they fit together without any wiggling. Because the magnets are so small, they pull apart with ease, so be mindful not to tug on the cord.

The last pro-with-con is the fact that the longer the G Slim is in direct contact with my body, the hotter its surface (rapidly) becomes. I know some folks enjoy heat transference, but I think it’s at least partially due to the motor overheating. This would make me nervous, except that on the two occasions where I started getting uncomfortable with the heat, it shut itself off. (This was after about thirty minutes of continuous use, and I was able to turn it on again after a few minutes.) I love toys that are more responsible than I am!

Now we get to my favorite part of this vibrator, and the reason I reach for it more often than the Noje Mini Wand these days. (Sorry, Mini Wand. I still love you!)

The best thing about the Noje G Slim is its lengthy handle. Being fat means my belly is often in the way of easy masturbation; the smaller the toy, the farther I have to reach and the more I have to angle my wrist. When I’m using the G Slim clitorally, I’m able to utilize its 7-inch shaft for a relaxed, unstrained hold. Because it’s so lightweight, there’s no straining my arm to keep the toy supported or in place. And if you’re targeting the g-spot (which is generally only two or three inches in) when using the G Slim vaginally, you’re still left with plenty of handle length to grasp even when you’re using it solo.

But even better, the handle has given me a new way to masturbate. When using the G Slim clitorally, the bulb remains nestled between my thick outer labia; I can rhythmically tug at the shaft to mimic jerking off, because the toy stays in place and nudges continuously over my clit. My buried clit (“buried” here meaning fully enveloped by labia) makes this easier, but I think even folks with protruding clits can enjoy experimenting with these kind of gender-affirming hand gestures as long as they’re mindful of the egg’s placement. This makes the G Slim an imperfect but affordable way for transmasc or curious masturbators to play around with the arm movements associated with cis male self-pleasure. Which is fucking cool.

Since the Noje G Slim Rechargeable G-Spot Vibrator is waterproof (with caveats, as I mentioned earlier) it can be a bath bud for short sessions. I don’t have a tub, nor am I a kinky snorkeler; my appreciation of this toy’s resistance to water is because it’s easier to clean. I don’t have to worry about drowning the motor if I dunk it while using a mild hand soap or toy cleaner to wash it, which is crucial for someone like me that groggily and begrudgingly cleans toys after rolling out of bed the next morning. I’m barely human, let alone discerning about how submerged my sinkful of goodies is.

There’s a seam between the silicone base and the rest of the toy; it can potentially get gunky, so make sure to check it during cleaning!

The G Slim is primarily made of ABS plastic, so you can use silicone lubes – but keep your sticky fingers away from its silicone buttons! Silicone lubes can damage silicone toys. If you’d rather skip the risk but still want the slip, water-based lubes (like my much-beloved Sliquid Sassy) won’t harm any portion of the toy.

Blush Novelties sent me the G Slim in July or August of last year. I used it religiously, so much so that I decided to bring it with me when I had to housesit out of town. When I got back, I couldn’t find it anywhere.

For the rest of 2018, I had a 75% completed review of a toy I really liked and no product to take pictures of… I even acquired a few potential replacements for my favorite longer-handled clit vibe (including the stronger and more expensive PalmPower Rechargeable, which also works for ‘jerking off’) but it’s been difficult to match the intuitive shape and affordability of the G Slim.
