Review: Avant Pride P2 True Blue G-Spot Dildo by Blush Novelties

It’s June, which means it’s Pride Month! And just in time for Pride Month, Blush Novelties has released some colorful new additions to their Avant line of silicone toys: a collection of hand-sculpted dildos and plugs emblazoned with Pride flag stripes. And while rainbow dildos aren’t exactly new to sex shop shelves, this is the first time I’ve ever seen sex toys in trans and genderqueer flag colors. Just like their equally bright cousins, the Avant D line, the Pride collection is stunningly striped and vividly colored. The color transitions from stripe to stripe are so sharp, I can only imagine magic is involved in their making.

I love sex toys, but I don’t always love the industry. I often feel alienated by the language and marketing tactics used to pitch toys, because it is almost always tailored for cisgender heterosexuals to the detriment of queers like me. Blush Novelties is one of the companies I’ve noticed putting effort into keeping their packaging gender and orientation neutral and their social media inclusive. These toys don’t feel like pandering, they feel like a company noticing an often ignored customer base and acknowledging – with beautifully crafted and affordably priced toys – our presence. Maybe I’m a sucker! But I’m okay with being a sucker, because affirmation keeps me going when I’m erased and ignored everywhere else.

Also, I’m gay. It’s illegal for me to pass up pride themed products. I’d have to go to gay jail, which is a bland open office space where the straights ask you about “the game” or call your hairstyle “brave”.

When Peepshow Toys reached out and asked if I’d like to review something from the collection, I jumped at the chance to try the P2 True Blue G-spot Silicone Dildo. Both my partner and I are nonbinary. We definitely intend to eventually buy both the genderqueer and genderfluid plugs as well, but it felt right to start our little Blush pride collection with the trans pride g/p-spotter.

The P2 is 6 inches long with just over 5 inches being insertable. Its widest point – the bump about halfway down the shaft – is 1.5 inches in width. The silicone is plush and pliable; it bends with ease, especially at the shaft’s neck, and is only a little less squeezable than a stress ball. The silicone’s finish is buttery soft, but does need a bit of lube (natural or otherwise) to ease the way. The P2’s base makes it safe for anal and harness compatible, and though it appears flat at first glance, in actuality it’s ever so slightly concave which makes it a suction cup. An exceedingly effective suction cup, in fact! In our living space, we can’t do much to test it besides stick it to a wood shelf and pull, but holy shit this thing does not budge. I’m not physically capable of pulling it free when it’s suctioned to something; instead, I have to break the suction by sliding a fingertip under the edge.

The P2 is definitely not for lovers of firm, unyielding stimulation. But its softness turned out to be exactly what my partner needed in a penetration toy this last month. We can get up to some pretty rough play, and a too-rigorous fucking resulted in a few weeks of vaginal sensitivity for Buster. The P2 was a nice, easy toy that provided ample stimulation without stretching muscles or irritating Buster’s battered cervix.

The most appealing aspect of the P2 True Blue’s unique shape – at least for Buster – was the swell in the middle of the shaft. It stimulated the vaginal opening with every shallow thrust, providing just a bit of a stretch compared to the rest of the dildo. Some folks might find the bump irritating, but Buster loved it, especially since we don’t often see toys that intentionally give stimulating focus to the vaginal opening itself. (More, please!) The rest of the toy’s shape was… alright. When being thrusted, the head provided a petting sensation internally that Buster found pleasant, but if thrusting became too vigorous the head just prodded uncomfortably and without purpose. If the head was fatter and stiffer, it might be better stimulating. But Buster isn’t keen on g-spot stimulation, so the P2’s lack of targeted firmness in this area wasn’t a downside for us, just a moot point; for others, it might be a deal-breaker.

Buster preferred to clench the P2 and occasionally nudge it to enjoy the bump, rather than actively thrusting it, which was advantageous for me during partnered sex because the malleable base isn’t the most ideal handhold.

Anally, the P2 True Blue Silicone Dildo was too small for Buster’s tastes, and pretty finicky to get in because of its bulbous head and wriggly neck. But in use the drag of its head was more pleasurable than it was vaginally, as its stroking shifts against internal walls are more apparent. It’s not suitable as a plug since the bottom half of the shaft is wider than the top (and you’d want the opposite), but it still makes a great anal toy because its suction cup makes it safe to use anally and its shape seems ideal for anal use. (Just make sure if you’re switching between vaginal and anal use, you sterilize the toy first. We boiled ours in a pot for a few minutes and let it cool back down to room temperature.)

Overall, we enjoyed the P2, but I definitely wouldn’t say it’s become a bedside drawer essential. For folks who want a gentle, smaller-sized penetration toy – especially those who like a little more entrance stimulation from their insertables – the P2 may be worth the reasonable pricetag of $30 USD, if the shape intrigues you. Folks looking for a little more g/p-spot targeting in their g/p-spot toys, or who need firmness or girth from their penetrables, should look elsewhere.

If you’re interested in giving it a shot, or you just want to show your pride in the bedroom, you can purchase the P2 True Blue G-Spot Silicone Dildo at Peepshow Toys. (And for just one more week, you can get the P2 and other great toys from their Pride’N’Joy collection for 18% off!)

Like Blush, Peepshow Toys is queer-friendly: they work with LGBT+ bloggers like me, their toy categories are gender neutral, and they stock several gender-affirming products like packers and breast forms. If the P2 isn’t quite what you need, you can find more g-spot toys here and prostate toys here, or you can check out the rest of Blush Novelties’ Pride collection!

(Side note: I’ve seen cisgender folks on social media wondering if it’s inappropriate or not to purchase this, since it’s clearly trans pride colors. I’m just one trans person so please keep that in mind, but in my opinion it’s perfectly fine to buy this toy if you’re cis. Customer demand usually dictates production and stocking habits. If these sell, they’ll keep being made, and they’ll keep being restocked. That means they’ll continue to be available for trans folks in the future.)

Thank you, Peepshow Toys, for sending me the Avant Pride P2 True Blue G-Spot Silicone Dildo in exchange for an honest review. Affiliate links were used in this post.
