I was immediately charmed by its aesthetics \u2013 it looks like a cartoon cactus in a pot \u2013 but beyond Iroha\u2019s initial promotional page, there was no information to be had. For months I scoured the internet, but the Zen hadn\u2019t yet made its way onto the digital shelves of my favorite sex shops.<\/p>\n<p>And then, suddenly, there it was on <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Fwand%2Dstyle%2Dvibes%2Dand%2Dmassagers%2F&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">SheVibe<\/a>! And for the attractively affordable price of $40 USD at the time of this writing. It\u2019s about 5 inches tall and 1.3 inches in diameter. That makes it suitable for vaginal penetration if you\u2019re so inclined (but not anal because it doesn\u2019t have a flared base.) The pleated surface might <em>look<\/em> intimidating, but the silicone ridges are actually soft and yielding. The Zen has a firm core inside to house its motor, but the top half of the shaft has a plush outer layer that you can pinch and pull away from the core. I can press the <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen Mini Vibe<\/a>\u2019s bulbous top half against my clit as hard as I want, and the plushness softens but doesn\u2019t sacrifice the force. Despite preferring it that way, I\u2019ll admit I was a little disappointed \u2013 I would have loved to play with a marshmallowy toy that was more pillow than pressure.<\/p>\n<p>The rippled texturing is pleasant when utilizing lube, adding flickers of extra stimulation if I twist the Zen against myself in use. Without adequate slickness (bodily or otherwise) to ease the way, the ridges\u2019 presence is a little jarring \u2013 like a subtle and unpainful scrape \u2013 when I move the toy, and basically unnoticeable when I don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>In density and texture, the Iroha Zen\u2019s uniqueness isn\u2019t as functionally impactful as I had hoped, but it\u2019s certainly different from literally any other toy I own.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"but_honestly_I_want_a_divorce\"><\/span><em>but honestly, I want a divorce<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>So here comes the bad news.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen<\/a>\u2019s vibrations aren\u2019t just mild, they\u2019re <em>weak<\/em>. Its first steady speed is no more stimulating to me than a car ride; its third and <em>highest<\/em> steady setting is a paltry purr that can\u2019t match the <em>lowest<\/em> vibration setting of any other toy I own. I am by no means power royalty (Buster is the <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Fwand%2Dstyle%2Dvibes%2Dand%2Dmassagers%2F&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">wand vibrator<\/a> hog in this house) but the Zen could be out-muscled by a slightly enthusiastic electric toothbrush.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1612\" src=\"https:\/\/bettybutch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/shevibe_irohazen_04-1024x708.png\" alt=\"The Zen laying on a glass patio table in a tiny pot that's been tipped over. The Zen\u2019s vibrations, though weak, are pleasantly rumbly. Rumbly motors (usually) massage vibrations past the surface and stimulate more of the clitoral complex; in comparison, buzzy vibes \u2013 like most cheap bullets on the market \u2013 just hum on the top of your skin and are more likely to cause tickling or numbness. Some people prefer buzzy vibes because of their shallow stimulation, but I\u2019ve found that rumbling vibrations (usually) give me full, satisfying orgasms. It\u2019s a genuine shame the Zen doesn\u2019t have a few more levels. With some strength behind them, the Zen\u2019s vibrations could be <em>exquisite<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But while the Zen\u2019s vibrations are weak, I don\u2019t think the <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen Mini Vibrator<\/a> is a failure. I just think it\u2019s not for me. Or, I suspect, most people reading this review.<\/p>\n<p>But my mom would love it!<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"that_time_I_gave_my_mom_a_vibrator\"><\/span><em>that time I gave my mom a vibrator<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>When I first launched this blog, my mother was living next door to us and regularly barged into my house unannounced. I got tired of scrambling to hide whatever reviews toys I had laying on my table, so I told her about my budding little business. I even gave her a weak bullet vibe to try out when she seemed (uncharacteristically) interested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow did it go?\u201d I asked her a day later, curious because she\u2019d never used sex toys before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI threw it across the room!\u201d she said vehemently, and sure enough, it had been chucked into a pile of blankets. At first I assumed she had second-guessed herself and had thrown it in disgust, but that wasn\u2019t the case: \u201cI used it for three seconds and it hurt. That is <em>way<\/em> too strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I had offered her the bullet because as soon as I unboxed it I decided that it wasn\u2019t worth reviewing \u2013 the vibrations were too wimpy. Yet here my mom was, saying it had been <em>too intense<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Bodies, needs, and preferences vary widely. When I talk about whether I liked a sex toy or not, I try to be clear and descriptive about what influenced my feelings, so others can get a feel for how their own body might react to the same stimulation. In this case, I find the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen<\/a>\u2019s vibrations to be incredibly weak. But there are people who need exactly that! Unfortunately this is just another way for it to fall short for us. Because penetration is physically painful for me, penetrative toys have to be smaller and far more flexible than the Zen. And for Buster, the Zen felt like a dual density dildo with an especially firm core density. Clenching the squishy outer layer was nice \u2013 though they couldn\u2019t feel the pleating texturing internally \u2013 but given its short length, it was difficult to hold or direct deep enough for the stimulation they wanted.<\/p>\n<p>Not our cup of (matcha) tea. Zing!<\/p>\n<p>But the inflexible nature of the <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen Mini Vibrator<\/a> may make it useful for people with sensitive g-spots that are located closer to the entrance of their vagina. The Zen\u2019s unyielding core will make it easier to specifically target your g-spot (unless you have a preference for curved toys), and its cushioned outer layer and gently rumbled vibrations won\u2019t overwhelm you. Buster\u2019s g-spot is behind their pubic bone, so the Zen didn\u2019t stand a chance of working for them.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the_care_and_cleaning_of_your_soft_potted_cactus\"><\/span><em>the care and cleaning of your soft potted cactus<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The Zen is waterproof, which means cleaning is fairly straight forward. You can use a toy cleaner like Sliquid Shine, but a mild face-safe soap works just fine. To ensure the ridges are fully washed, I rub the flat of my thumb over them after working the soap into a light lather. This helps dislodge any fluids or flakes (depending on how long you put off cleaning it after use \u2013 I\u2019m not judging you.) Rinse while still massaging the pleats with your finger, and you should be fine! Barely any fuss.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1624116&amp;u=3636866&amp;m=101452&amp;urllink=shevibe%2Ecom%2Firoha%2Dzen%2Dmatcha%2Dsilicone%2Dwaterproof%2Dmini%2Dvibrator%2Dgreen&amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Iroha Zen Mini Vibrator<\/a> can be stored with other silicone toys. Unfortunately, the battery compartment isn\u2019t intuitive and its markers aren\u2019t obvious; it took me awhile to get the hang of it. To change the Zen\u2019s batteries, simply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Give the base a quarter turn to open it<\/li>\n<li>Check the white rim on the toy itself for a small black arrow<\/li>\n<li>Beside the arrow, put the first battery in negative-side up<\/li>\n<li>(As with most electronics, the second battery goes in positive-side up)<\/li>\n<li>Find the tiny square-shaped indent inside the black base<\/li>\n<li>Line it up just behind the arrow on the battery compartment<\/li>\n<li>Give it a quarter turn so the arrow and indent meet to ensure it\u2019s clicked shut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"so_am_I_disappointed_in_the_iroha_zen\"><\/span><em>so am I disappointed in the iroha zen?<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In most ways, yes.
